Funny you posted that, I was thinking about your question today.

Now that Meyer has left Florida, I think you seriously have to consider the OU tandem in the Top 2 or 3 as far as stature is concerned. I wouldn't take any other football coach over Stoops, but the only duo I can think of that I would definitively take is Ohio State with Tressel and Matta.

Actually, Kruger addressed this yesterday. They weren't at KSU at the same time, nor were they at Florida. Both times, missed each other by just a few months.

I am pretty sure that he said that they were there together, but only for a couple months. I think Kruger said that every time Stoops showed up, he left a few months later.

I thought he said they missed each other by a few months, but you may be right. Regardless, I bet they got to know each other better at lunch than they had any chance to, before.

Very likely. I just got the impression from the way that LK answered the questions, that they don't know each other well. That's why I'd doubt that Kruger had any impact on Stoops getting the Florida gig.

I agree. Stoops got that job on his own merit.

However, I would say it wouldn't surprise me if Spurrier or somebody at Florida approached Kruger about Stoops. As in, "what do you know about him?"; "is he easy to work with?"; questions like that.
