Sunrise Christain PG NAIRN 2014

Listen I've seen him play a ton of times in Hs and aau. Every recruiters, coach, spectators knock on him is that he plays hard sometimes and is a real difference maker. Then other times he is an avg Hs player.

If he has "it" going, he is really good. His small size hurts him but there have been a ton of small guards that are great.

I promise you! I have nothing against him at all and hope he continues to grow as a player.

Love analysis like this. Way to bring it.:clap

I try to shoot the facts!

Facts are off when it comes to who has offered and who has not which is what I was referring to previously.

As far as his game:
Average does not get you ranked #1 in the state for your class for how many years now?? Average does not get you the exposure he's had. Average does not get you the invites on the circuits he's had. Average does not give you the production he has had in high school and at those invitations either (you may not have made it to those events).

Wonderful Kid. Team player. Outstanding work ethic. The most humble 17 yr old you'll ever met. He may pull back at times but we both know that has nothing to do with inability.

We could back and forth all day. Your opnions vs. my facts.
Outside of his mother/fam; I'm his #1 fan.
At the end of the day. . .. He's been in love with the game since before he could walk and it shows. Omega Harris is a baller. ;-)

I have never seen the kid play but I can tell you first hand that talent and effort are 2 very different things that are not related. I've seen kids with no talent make an impact because of their effort, and I've seen kids with a ton of talent make very little impact because of very little effort.

I'm certainly not saying Omega doesn't give effort, and I didn't take CoachTalk's comments to mean he doesn't have great talent. I took it to mean that Omega hasn't yet figured out he has to bring it every night. That's certainly not a bad thing because most talent scouts or coaches believe they can motivate a player to play with max effort all the time. How many top rated football recruits have we heard about that didn't play hard all the time in high school but once they got to college it all changed? Many, I can tell you for sure, more than I could count over the years.

I think back to David Johnson in the 80's. When CBS was there he was always the "Chevrolet Player of the Game", but other games he disappeared at times.

ESPN does not have him ranked #1 in the state. He is ranked behind Hammond, who just committed to Nebraska. fwiw

With all due respect Cheney, I believe as an outsider who has no dog in this fight, the bolded part is what is driving you to take what Coach says personal.

If you go back and read what he posted, he never questioned the kid's ability, he questioned his consistent effort, something Booger did a great job of breaking down.

I have not sen any of the kids play enough to give an educated opinion, but I have posted on these boards for years, and I came to know Coach is usually pretty accurate in his information.

My daughter recently did not make the final cut for an elite dance team she has been a member of since the 6th grade. As a HS Soph. the kids who she competed with have grown physically, and they have made vast improvement as dancers. I initially reacted as any emotional dad would, and I was angry at the coach.

After reading the judge's notes, I went back and reviewed the audition videos. My daughter, who is an excellent technical dancer, not blessed with the natural ability of many of the dancers, just did not work hard enough to earn a spot. Looking at the videos I could see her a 1/2 second off in her spins, and not able to leap as high in the jumps as some of the girls who spent their summer working, lifting, etc....

Of course I assured my daughter I'm much more proud of her streak of never missing the honor roll, and the fact she is already receiving academic recruitment letters from across the country. I was supportive of her, but I honestly told her she was not quite on the level of the 15 girls who made the team.

I told that story to say this: Sometime our emotional ties to a kid, situation, etc can block us from accepting reasonable criticism, which my initial reaction. I so wanted to stop my daughter's pain when her name wasn't called, I immediately blamed the coach, judges, etc. The truth is she wasn't one of the elite 15 girls, nothing to be ashamed of when over 100 girls auditioned.

I personally would love to have Omega as a Sooner!!!! I don't believe anyone here would be against it. As Booger said, if he continues to grow as a player, the talent he obviously has, along with improved effort will take him to the places you and all of his supporters want him to go.

When you spoke about his humility and character, you made me an instant fan!!!! Hopefully that continues with him as a Sooner.

He has an official visit set up for next weekend, August 23.

That's a very nice three-guard attack rotation if OU were to get Nairn.

You've got Woodard and Nairn rotating at the point Hield/Hornbeak/Cousins rotating at the other two guard spots.

Damn.

I like Nairn, but I also think it's good that he can come to OU and not be needed to start from day 1. Suppose to be a little raw on offense, but is a good distributor, and great ball handler. He can spell Woodard for a couple of years, and they can duke it out for minutes when Woodard is a SR and Nairn a JR. Be a nice pg combo for the next 3 seasons.

Another thing I like about the guards on your list is that two are true point guards and two of the other three have played the point before. My point is that you can't have too many guards who can play multiple positions if need be.

I love Nairn's game! He might be a little small of stature, but he makes up for it with his quickness and his ability to see the court, make accurate passes in close spaces and his great handles. He's obviously fearless in taking the ball to the hole in traffic and finishing strong with either hand.

Do some work to reign him in, Buddy!

I saw him and buddy were tweeting back and forth some about his official visit next weekend.

Nairn is regarded as a 4 Star and definitely an elite prospect. He was an invite at the Nike Global Elite Challenge and a big pice to Sunrise Christian offense. I would say he is ranked well ahead of Hammond according to ESPN rankings.

Think that comment was referring to Omega Harris, not Tum Tum.

A lot of people have an opinon about Omega and his game and or college recruiting. The fact of the matter is Omega Harris will choose the school that best fits him and his game. He did not have to reclassify go to prep school to be the ball player he is, he has and always will be humble, thankful, and respectful, most of all unselfish. He is considered an 3 star guard and that's ok becuase one thing and two for show you can ask anyone that has had to guard him about the Leathal first step off the dribble that cant be taught and the court vision that comes with IQ, again Omega is 2014 his right grade so to continue to try and pit him against the other people that have reclassified and or have had to go to prep school makes a person say hmmm.
Thats all I have to say about Omega this forum is for people and thier opinons so I have given mine. Omega Harris is a great kid that has my respect.

No insider info, but I feel mr nairn will be our next commit...
