Kids looked in pretty good shape.

Most seemed to have individually improved. This isn't always the case with Sherri's teams.

They all look about the same. I wouldn't know who to start or play.

Can't keep 15 kids happy, not enough minutes. Can't develop cohesiveness either.

I think I would red shirt EJ, Mulkey and Dungee, assuming they would go along with the plan happily.

I would rotate vivi, Treece and Kellogg on the inside, and use Maddie inside when I needed a fourth big.

Rotate Ortiz and TE at point. Penzo when I needed a third point.

Develop a 4 person rotation on the wings, and three of the 4 would be little, maddie and carter. Not sure who else I would use on the wing, but probably Derica

all in all, I thought the kids looked pretty good.

Women really don't have desire to redshirt regardless of playing circumstances. I can't remember anyone on any team (UConn, Hypocrite U, Texas, Notre Dame, etc, etc) that has redshirted other than for injury or transfer. Redshirting doesn't really affect ability to play professionally, in US or abroad, and the women just aren't interested. Sherri, or someone on staff, mentioned a few years ago proposing redshirting to individuals in the past and said they just didn't want to redshirt.

Indeed, women usually have no interest in redshirting. But, I wouldn't do it for practical reasons. We have five (or six) seniors (depending on whether Maddie would want to apply for a medical redshirt). If you take those seniors out of the rotation, it would mean that we would return Vivi and Gabbi next year. If those seniors get as much playing time as I would anticipate, how much experience would Penzo, LaNesia, Ijeoma, and McKenna get? I suspect that it would be minimal.

So, we would begin next year with little in the way of experience to help Nancy, Chelsea, Ijeoma, and the new signees get their feet on the floor.

From what I have seen, I would anticipate that Chelsea and Nancy would see significant playing time this year and have the opportunity to develop with experienced players. It is quite possible that Dungee could be a starter by the end of this year. My starting five right now would be Vivi, Maddie, Peyton, Chelsea, and Gabbi. I would rather see them develop with Maddie, Peyton, Derica, and Gioya around. Let Nancy throw that high/low entry pass to Vivi or Maddie instead of Shaya, and it becomes points. Let Maddie and Gabbi feed Nancy instead of T'Ona and LaNesia, and we see her score.

Play the best 8. Know it was an exhibition, but too much substitution (as we did last year) limits ability to become cohesive unit.

If Peyton's shooting woes continue this year, I could see her falling out of the rotation. Massive to if she doesn't shoot more.

Excuse me, I meant starting 5, not
Out of the rotation.

I don't see Sherri benching a senior who has been a starter but they both need to pick up their game.

Hard to tell who will be in the final rotation. I didn't feel we had a consistent rotation last year and hope we will get there this year but we seem to have a lot of players who can play.

Hopefully they will be used in practice. The guys group will just take needed minutes from our reserves every minute they are on the court.

Maddie didn't shoot because I don't think they passed the ball to her once in the first half after she made two shots. We had some kids out there trying to be stars, and they weren't hitting.

I see Maddie, Gabbi, and Vivi as being the definitive starters. Peyton wasn't hitting threes, but she was making some shots, and she played solid defense with few mistakes.

Gioya turned the ball over. For some reason, they said the turnovers were on the people she passed to. Nope. She wasn't playing smart, and she wasn't hitting.

Dungee would be the fifth starter if it weren't for the senior starter thing of Sherri. Gioya has to earn some time, or she may find herself as a sixth man.

When in a set offense, Nancy and Gileysa were effective. I think Ijeoma wasn't bad. All I saw out of T'Ona, Treece, Shaya, and LaNesia was an inability to operate in a set. T'Ona and LaNesia were good in the open court. But, we may not be able to force the running game against some opponents. Sherri said T'Ona was the most improved. I didn't see it.

I should have commented on the improvement by Ortiz. She looks more like what we expected from her and didn't get last year. She played a good all around game.

NC, I didn't say she would be benched. I think she could lose her spot in the starting line-up.

If that happened, I believe she would still get a lot of minutes.
