This link is from the OU Club of Houston showing several pictures of the team eating dinner at Katch 22 the night before the A&M game. One of the owners is Kory Clemens who is Roger Clemens son ..... he's the big guy in the red shirt shown serving in some of the pictures.

Here's the link to the OU Club of Houston web site. It's a very active group. It also has some pictures posted from the game.

I just thought some of you would enjoy seeing some pictures of the team on a road trip. I didn't go to the dinner but my wife and I took our 8 year-old grandson to the game. He loved that the team gave him high 5's after the game as they left the court.

Thank you for posting this. When I have traveled to away games in recent years during the Kruger era, I have often heard from hotel staff and other "locals" about how impressed they were with the OU team. Terms like "polite" and "friendly" and "classy" were used to describe the guys. These young men are a reflection of their coach, and they are wonderful ambassadors for the University of Oklahoma.

Random question: Is the alumni group allowed to pay for the basketball team to eat there? Or does the school have to pay for the team in lieu of a possible "impermissible benefits" controversy?

Just curious how these sort of interactions go down without breaking any rules.

I don't have a specific answer to your question. But, the players are entitled to 3 free meals a day. In periods like now when school is out and there is no university food service in the dorms. Food is brought into the practice gym so that they can get something to eat after practice.

Some of that food may be paid for by the basketball program. Some of it may or not be donated. Some of it may or may not be bartered by a local restaurant in exchange for advertising.

I think violations occur when a benefit above and beyond is offered and accepted by an athlete. Getting to eat as part of the team on a road trip is probably going to be OK no matter who pays for it.

Clemens brother looks just like him. Interesting they chose his place to eat.....Roger was a Longhorn.....but then again we were playing the Aggies.

Kory is Roger Clemens' son; not his brother. It is interesting that they meet there. They meet there for all the football watch parties, too. If you open the OU Club of Houston site, you can see that they will meet there for the Sugar Bowl watch party. Quentin Griffin will be a guest for the party.

Son! Wow! My dyslexia reading the original post. Obviously smart business decision by him.

What they frequently do is bring a snack which to the rest of the world is a meal and then pay them per diem for the meals. We also do this for the football team at the bowl games.
My daughter makes money every fall when practice starts before school is in session.
