Tech slapping Baylor around

I realize this game is far from over. But if Baylor doesn't step up their game in the second half, Tech is going to get their first conference win. The Bears were downright awful. Hard to believe a team with that much talent can stink it up like that.

62-43, and honestly im surprised. Now you know Baylor will be ready to protect their home court, so I think it kind of hurts us on Saturday a little cause I thought maybe we could catch them off guard

Tech doesn't have much and they might not hold their lead. But, Tubby is giving Drew a coaching lesson.

My thoughts exactly! It's good to see Tech win a game. But I was hoping the Bears would pull out the win at the end for the reasons you stated.

The way the Techsters played tonight, does everyone still have them down as an almost certain OU sweep? I was never in that group. I have been saying all along that any team in the conference can beat those at the top on their home floor. TTU proved that to be true by upsetting an overconfident Baylor team. If OU fails to heed the warning, we may be next.

It's not certain, but it's a series we need to sweep.

Any game on the road will be tough. The idea that OU is going to sweep TT, TCU, WVU without question is far-fetched (and is for almost any team in conference).

KU is improving so they might have a chance, but everyone else is fair game.

Yeah, TCU and Tech or anyone in the Big 12 aren't going to be pushovers this year. You will have to be prepared every night, home or away.

TCU is pretty awful.

But outside of them, everyone else is anywhere from decent to great.

TCU was worse last year IMO and they beat us and KU in Ft Worth. They may finish last or next to last in the conference but I think they're a better team this year.

Those two wins last year probably rank among the biggest upsets in the history of the Big 12 conference.

I will agree that TCU is marginally better this year, but the rest of the league is also better. Thus, the separation between them and the rest of the conference is still pretty dramatic:

  • In KenPom, TCU is ranked 205th. The next closest Big 12 team is Tech at 90th. The rest of the Big 12 is in the 60s or better.
  • In Sagarin, TCU is 189th. The next closest is Tech at 98th. The rest of the league is in the top 60.
  • In RPI, TCU is 178th. Again, Tech is the next closest at 126th. WVU is 97th, and the rest of the league is all in the top 50.

It wouldn't shock me if TCU pulled another upset this year, but all things being equal, they are the only team in the league that can be considered a "breather" game, like Baylor and A&M used to be back in the day.
