Texas down 1 at home to Tenn. State

And Coleman hits a floater w/ 9 seconds left. Tenn State comes down and rushes a 27 footer. Texas holds on.

As I've mentioned in previous threads in past seasons, Shaka Smart caught lightning in a bottle one year at VCU.....and he has leveraged that into people actually thinking he is a good coach. He will get talent because he is at Texas, but they will underachieve consistently during his tenure.

You guys didn't mention the final score, which shocked me:

47-46

How in the world did texas score just 47 points? Doesn't Shaka love that pressing defense and fast-paced offense?

You know what is even more pathetic about this game Sky?......Texas forced 23 turnovers....and still couldn't even score 50 pts....yikes!

I watched them shoot air ball after air ball for a while and then switched to TCU for a while. I am sure Texas will shoot better against us but if I was defending them I would zone them until they showed me otherwise.

I've watched them play a couple of times.....:facepalm

Not sure that I understand their offense....especially the way they use Bamba...

They are going to have to get better.....

They were 3-21 from 3-point range and were out rebounded by one.

exactly...they just passed the ball around the perimeter...until under 8 sec then took a shot. The few minutes I watched them...off and on..about 10 min. They looked totally lost on offense...didn't attack the zone at all.

Tenn was so small...but they packed in the zone.

I just don't understand what Shaka is trying to run at Texas - he's recruited 5 star big men nonstop and gone away from what worked at VCU.

not sure he really knows what to do at UT. He succeeded at VCU playing controlled ball. This is effective when you dont have access to all the athletes and size that your opposition may. Unfortunately the window for consistent super-success is small.

now that he does have access to those players I am not sure he knows how to adjust. this is something I envy in Lon Kruger. He has coached and succeeded in such a gamut of situations that he knows exactly what he can do and should do with the talent level available at any given time. This is something we lacked under both Kelvin and Billy Tubbs. And don't get me wrong I loved both those guys.

I like OU's coaching right now more than ever.

They can't score and are really missing Andrew Jones. It's too bad we don't play them until February.

Only played 2 guys of the bench and one of them had 0 points, rebounds and assists.
