Is that I was reading this forum before the game and people were predicting us to lose. With this team I can't bring myself to do that. This team is for real. We can compete with the best. The freshman may not put up big stats but man do they contribute. We have to really good ones. Hield isn't human and cousins is amazing at that pull up jumper. Bring everybody on!

Couldn't agree more. Can't comprehend why we have so many doubters.

...I would say the majority picked ou but I'm going out on a limb when I say that there aren't many on this planet that saw that game coming.

OU is really good.

Most of the preseason stuff I saw actually suggested OU would probably win because Villanova was young. I think Villanova played well early and people forgot that OU returned four starters and 6 of their top 8 players plus two guys that redshirted while Villanova was young.

Nova is really good. I'm not a doubter for thinking they would win.

Stop trying to create divisions among the fan base -- the fans and the haters (doubters) or some such nonsense. I've consistently said this team can compete for the conference championship and for a Final 4. Guess what...so can Villanova. This was a legitimately great win over a legitimate top 5 or top 10 team.

Acknowledging that we might not go undefeated, especially when we play so many games against so many good teams, doesn't make me a "doubter." So stop trying to divide Sooner fans into those who are "true fans" and those who are somehow less legitimate.

By the way, I didn't notice either you or "sooner lover" show up to that thread to post your predictions. Obviously it's much easier to show up afterward and crow about how much smarter or more devoted you are than to have a record of it before the game.

Don't start mouthing me I just rarely post. I read on here a lot. I never mouthed anybody. Just said I saw some picking against us. I didn't say anything negative about them either.

Sounds like someone is butthurt. First, I never accused you of not being "true fan." And for your information, I did predict a Sooner victory on this very board.

I'm glad to know you're a true Sooner fan, but I can also see you're a fan who needs to grow up some. No one is picking on you, junior.

It's still early in the season and the wheat has yet to be separated from the chaff (farmer talk). Remember, LSU was ranked number 2 early in the season (football talk). There's still too many battles to be waged til we really have a solid feel of how the season will turn out.

I didn't make any predictions, but my hope was that we would just win the game...and a one-point win would have been great! I was cautiously optimistic we'd get the W, but that's about it. I believe the last "big" win we had in OOC matchups was against Purdue 7 years ago. If that is the case, no one can blame them for not bouncing off walls as to how great this team can be...nothing wrong with being cautiously optimistic.

We saw a very good team at work. There is no reason that this team wont go to the Elite Eight, at least. The only thing I dread is one of those nights when we couldnt throw a ball in the ocean from the boat. And every team has one of those - at least one. When it happens(and it will) I'm thinking for the first time in forever, that our defense may save us.

Everybody stays healthy, then this team has lots of improving that will happen. Better bench play and these young post guys are going to get better as a group. Point is we are not a finished product yet. This may be one of the best OU teams in OU history. It will be interesting to rank this team at the end compared to past OU teams.

We are probably not as good as we looked last night. We will not hit more than 50% of our treys in every game and we are unlikely to hold our opponents to the shooting percentages that Villanova had.

However, I am encouraged with the performance of this team so far. I particularly like our strong finishes.

One key is to get more effective minutes out of Manyang or less likely McNease and to get consistent minutes on both offense and defense from the three backup guards.

The other is to keep everyone healthy.

The starters actually are hitting 50% of their threes on the season. I wouldn't expect it to last all year but six games is enough time that you have to say they are really good shooters.

I deleted a couple posts because this thread was turning into a personal argument. If this thread continues down that path I'll just lock it up. No one on here enjoys reading posts where people are bickering and once posts start becoming personal attacks they are also breaking the rules.

Sorry, MNSooner. I guess I tend to get a little irritated when someone takes such goshawful offense to a post that was completely innocuous and in no way offensive.

Anyhow, I promise to be less thin-skinned when the next attack comes.

Thanks. I personally did not take it as an attack on other fans, but I can see how it was interpreted that way. I'm okay with people discussing it, but it was definitely becoming personal. I know you and Chuck are both good fans and posters. I just didn't want to see the thread turn ugly especially when we're all trying to celebrate a big win.
