This was not a tough loss...because anyone with a brain knew that we were going to get smoked by the first media timeout. The only disappointing thing to me was that I'm pretty sure the crowd would have exploded if we could have even just kept it close with them. Oh well.

Just a random thought that I figured deserved a topic since I don't see a similar one on the board currently.

It was a big crowd last night. Close to capacity. We were just waiting for something to go crazy about but UT would just come down and get a simple layup or drain a 3.

I have been to around 100 OU home games. That is the first standing room only crowd I've ever seen there. There were tons of people standing at the top that couldnt find seats for most of the first half.

There was easily 14,000 people in that building. It was pretty wild. It was supposed to be a white-out but because there were more people than seats, hundreds of people didn't get t-shirts, so it wasn't completely whited-out, if thats a word.

Too bad those 8-10 thousand people that dont normally attend had to pick a game in which we were completely outmatched.

They only had white t-shirts on the backs of the chairs in the lower bowl and only about half of the east and west sides of the upper bowl. I guess they were preparing for a smaller crowd.

Yeah, it looked they only had them in the padded chair backs for the upper bowl.

Yep, although I believe they had extras and started handing them out when they realized there were going to be way more people than expected there.

Anyways if you have ESPN3 the first 4:00 or so are worth a watch on replay...it looked pretty intimidating. The game was a major :facepalm but it looked intimidating haha.

I was disappointed when 7 season ticket holders sitting by me left immediately after the Sam Bradford halftime show. Not surprised, but still disappointed. I'm not sure the score or the weather made any difference

good sign. thats how it used to be before I was a student when texas and osu came to town.

who was the guy with the red cap on that ended up getting escorted out? It was in the 2nd half, they showed him briefly on the vid screen, it was not Durant/crew. People were sanpping pics of the guy...

This is how it was when Mizzou, KU, OSU, and the big non-con games when I was in college. After college, you could add Texas to that list and even Texas Tech a few times (with bobby knight).

I can't count how many times I've seen the LNC with overflow crowds standing around the top of the arena. Numerous times, and on most nights she was rocking with the sound-o-meter fully lit.

I was watching the 95 KU game on youtube last week, and every time we scored the student section threw shredded paper into the air. That used to be every time we scored, it was like we won the super bowl so much confetti/paper was flying. Lots of fun. Nothing like an OU basketball game when the LNC is like that. I would love to feel that again.

Any chance that last night's crowd proves that OU has priced its fans out of the market? I've been saying for quite a while that I think they need to lower prices in order to increase demand.

Bottom line is, you don't charge high prices for a product that isn't in high demand.

Its a combo of that and the sheer amount of season tickets that don't get used. This state has more basketball fans then one would initially think as the Thunder and the attendance they have had is proof of that.

I know the solutions are difficult to happen for multiple reasons. But in an ideal perfect world the unused season ticket holding fat would be trimmed. Prices would drop (mainly referring to the upper bowl prices) and people would be encouraged to move down. You do those steps and even if OU is an average team (I'm talking just making it back to being a borderline NCAA team) and a good atmosphere would happen.

Great crowd numbers last night. Too bad the team didn't give them anything to cheer about. Looked great on TV though.

i call BS. Prices can't be that high. Can't you get like $10 GA tickets all the time?

They are $15-25 in conference, and they are SRO.

But yeah, price isn't the only reason.
Crappy season ticket holders is the biggest reason in my mind.

Upper Bowl OU prices are the same as upper bowl Thunder prices. Product?

I love college basketball and not the NBA, but the fact of the matter is that the Thunder are doing it right and OU isn't, and hasn't been for years.

Agreed that it isn't the only reason, but I think it contributes to it.

The biggest problem is, and always will be, the football ticket tie-in.
