Naaa, if it gets more fans at the game, increasing our slim chance of winning, I'm all for it. But I could see how some might not like it.
I'm a season ticket holder and the game last week was the best game of the year. It doesn't bother me at all that the game is free. I am still supporting a great University and a great sports program. Besides it gets some fans in there that are loud and fun. The Baylor atmosphere was excellent.
This game will not be free.

How bad are the roads/highways in OK? Thinking about driving down for the game from Wichita after work tonight.
The sun is out shining here in Oklahoma, beautiful day out, come on down. How bad are the roads/highways in OK? Thinking about driving down for the game from Wichita after work tonight.

UNLV was $1.00 (I believe maybe free) in 1987 due to weather. That was too highly ranked teams. I don't see why the caliber of the opponent would have any impact on the decision. They have sold the vast majority of tickets that will be sold. Only a very uninformed fan would purchase tickets from OU at this point because they will be almost free outside of the stadium.
That was a wild day, all the way around back in '87. It took over an hour to get there from Edmond, but it wasn't THAT bad. And that OU-UNLV game is still the greatest in-person game that I've ever seen.
We were lucky, though, that it wasn't a Sunday afternoon game. That was a wicked day for driving. Memorial Road up by Quail Springs looked like a snowpacked trail (barely one good set of ruts to drive on) that day around noon.

Sooner Fans:
Once again Mother Nature is affecting Sooner Basketball. We will move forward and play tonight's game against Texas, but my utmost concern is for all fans to be safe during this weather.
Tip-off is at 8 p.m. in Lloyd Noble Center and we have announced that admission will be free to all fans. It is "Cheer Like a Champion" night with NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Sam Bradford. We will still distribute a free T-shirt to fans and the first 5,000 will receive a Sam Bradford poster.
If you can safely attend, we do need your support to help us keep our home court momentum. With schools closed today, there is the opportunity to get out of the house or dorm room for a free evening of Big 12 hoops. OU students, help us make an impact in the Big 12 with a loud, vocal crowd in the LNC.
I want to again reiterate the importance of being safe if you are going to travel to the arena tonight. Please bundle up, take plenty of time to travel, drive slowly and if at any time during your travel you feel you cannot continue, please return home. Let others know you are traveling and contact them when you have safely arrived at the LNC.
Thank you for your continued support of Sooner men's basketball.
