Everyone is asking if OU will fire Capel due to the worst 5 year stretch in the last 60 years and fan support at a all time low. It won't be the wins and losses it will be the NCAA hammer due to Tiny and crew. Remember the assistant coach leaving in the middle of the night? Funny business with Bank accounts? There is a reason Tiny, TNG and WW aren't back this year and its due to the NCAA investigation.

Once this shoe drops its over for coach Capel and OU BB for a while. We were already under probation this wil result a very harsh outcome for the OU BB program.

Nice if true? The Program can be called "Ponies North"!

So, is this just a theory, or do you have info?

Stupid. OU wrapped up their investigation months ago. If they thought the hammer was coming down, Capel would've been fired last spring.

Furthermore, if OU thought they would be losing even one scholarship, Capel wouldn't be trying to sign 3-4 guys for next season like he currently is.

Do you see any evidence that it's more than pure conjecture?

I agree with what OUHoops11 said. The people I know who are close to the program don't believe anything will come of the NCAA's investigation.

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

Nothing is going to come from this.

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

Since Tiny and Telefono are both gone I dont think the NCAA has much interest in this anymore. If Tiny were here they would probably be gunning for him and the press would be bringing it up. But since he's not an NBA star like a Derrick Rose or OJ Mayo, I dont think anybody cares.

Why do you right your speculation as if it were fact? OU is not likely to get on probation because they have not imposed their own sanctions. Joe C has been consistant on that point.

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

I will say that the non-action of the NCAA has acted like its own little probation because of the negative recruiting and cloud following us around. I also believe it was reflected in the lack experienced assistants that might haven taken a job with us when there was an opening.

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

this is not close to the truth ..

ww and tmg leaving had nothing to do with any investigation ... tiny didn't want to have to miss lots of time and the ncaa wouldn't give a ruling on his suspention so he left

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

This sounds like more of a wish list than actual facts.

The coach isn't here. The player isn't here. And its not like we did anything special with Tiny why he was here.

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

One thing I dislike about these episodes is that they go on ... and on ... and on. Hopefully, nothing comes of this, and by season’s end we can quit reading about it in some article every other week. Once again, it was mentioned in the newspaper today.

Re: The NCAA hammer coming down on Capel

Funny, some people seem convinced that the NCAA is gonna come calling eventually, but as far as I know the situation is done with. Tiny's mom supposedly got a private loan and subsequently paid it back. Do I believe that's all that went down ? No way but if the NCAA says we're good I'm good.

I also think this did play a part in Tiny not coming back, i.e. OU wanting to distance themself from Tiny (didn't he initially say he was coming back then changed his mind ?).

Anyway if the NCAA ever did come calling it's like kicking a homeless guy at this point.

It was a $3,000 academic loan to Tiny's mother, that was paid back and all involved were sent packing. It had nothing to do with paying recruits to come.

In light of the most recent NCAA rulings of the OSU footballers and Cam Newton, I expect minimal to no punishment.

soooo, is it bad enough that the NCAA makes us keep Capel for 5 more years. I didn't think it was serious enough to get that kind of punishment.

Buttermaker is a Capel hater and just wants to stir it up.

This post is unmitigated crap.First of all _-THE WORST 5 year WINNING % IN 60 YEARS? Are you kidding or ignorant?
Capel is 90-60 While coaches prior to Tubbs were

Parrack 71-97
Stevens 46-79
McCleod 90-69
Ramsey 31-21
Bliss 76-52

While it is accurrate say worst 5 year period in 30 years,60 years is total BS.As for the allegations of wrongdoing against ; this is also total BS,there have never been ANY allegations by the NCAA or any credible source that Capel has broken any rules.Likewise there have never been any indications that TMG or WW ever took money, the only allegations were levelled at Tiny.No coach snuck out in the middle of the night.apparently you just like to make stuff up as both coaches made public announcements before leaving.I look forward to Capel turning this program around, hope you hang around but if not it is no great loss to the Sooner fanbase.

Coach O was forced to leave OU. He took the fall for what happened with Tiny. How long will it take Capel to turn around the program? It looks like it's going to be a long time.

That's a valid question for the board. However, there is no need to pepper your arguments with distortion & misrepresentations of the facts, such as buttermaker1 did.
