The PG Experiment

My main concerns with Cousins at PG are:
- can be erratic with the ball, how quickly can he make decisions in the open court?
- for a guard his size at the D1 level, he dribbles the ball pretty high and out front of his body. May create issues when changing directions under pressure.

Remember, there is no reset on the 10 second count this year if the ball goes out of bounds off the defense...may speed him up. With all that said, if this change works, and Woodard or someone can hit weak side jumpers, opposing defenses are screwed.

Some of you turkeys owe Gary an apology for mocking him following the delivery of the PG transition.

But, as always, IKWT.

Sometimes I post an opinion. Sometimes I post breaking news. Some of these guys can not tell the difference.

Based off of 2 exhibition games?? :facepalm

I believe that Kruger knows woodard is a pg. He's battle tested in the big 12. Had a bit of a problem shooting his 3s. Bit other than that he's a great big 12 PG.

Kruger is experimenting and desperately wanting cousins to get looks. But cousins Is not the passer that woodard is. Not the dribbler woodward is. And is not the decision Maker or physically tough player that woodard is.

I love cousins too. He's a MUCH better player attacking the rim in an iso situation. And a better shooter and probably defender too.

Kruger is a smart coach and is making back up plans imo cuz walker turned out to not be a PG like wed hoped..

Well see

Mmmm with Cousins at the point do you find someone who can open up the floor for Buddy? Does OU want someone playing without the ball in their hands that shoots 36% from the field and even worse from 3? Like another poster said it means defenses will find it easier to play off Jordan and double on Buddy. Seems strange to me.

My problem with this is the ball gets stuck with Cousins to often (he dribbles to much sometimes) and if we want to push the pace, to me that is Jordan's strength not cousins. I don't mind cousin as the back up or taking over on his good days but I don't see how this is putting Jordan in a position to succeed.

I have no idea how this will play out. Like you, I have some reservations with Cousins as full-time PG (specifically ball-handling). I think one other major aspect that needs to be considered is his "decision-making ability". A cerebral PG can have a serious impact on a game (turnovers, pace, settling the team down, etc.). Will he make the right choices within the context of the offense at the right time? The jury is still out on that.
