The Texas Longhorns are National Champions

I'm curious how many of Texas NIT appearances are from the Big 12 era?

As for the NIT, the worst part about it is the NIT selection committee chooses teams based on ticket sales instead of most deserving. The NIT sole purpose is to make money, not crown a true 69th best team.

I can't watch the NIT games until they play in MSG but I missed it this year.

One positive is that they recently changed the process and now any team that wins a regular season conference title is automatically invited if they don't win the conference tournament. That at least rewards teams for regular season success without regard to reputation or tickets.

There aren't 64 teams better than any NIT team. UT is better than probably 33 (automatic qualifiers from crappy conferences). But because of the layout of the tournament, only 32 or so at-large places exist. Getting thoroughly annihilated by UVA (not as close as the score was) is way worse than winning the NIT, in my opinion.

I was with you until this. This statement makes your comment little more than a joke.

You are entitled to your opinion. As someone who went to the game against Mississippi, I can safely say I would not trade that experience for a hundred NIT titles...and we weren’t “annihilated” by Virginia...leave that hyperbole comment to the FF game against Villanova.

The thing is "it's not a debate."

Ok.

As opposed to not tracking what Texas does?

Go to bed.

Geez you are unbearable sometimes...

I just meant it will be interesting to see if this springboards Shakas career at UT.

Your initial statement was based on the future? Nope.

My initial assessment was based on the people in this thread arguing that winning games in the NIT was better than playing in the NCAA tournament. Any casual observer could read the posts and clearly articulate why i commented that "I cant believe people are even debating this." They clearly were. More than 1 person has done exactly that.

Why you are looking to argue something that isn't even arguable is beyond me. Do you have nothing better to do? This is like drivers who just cut off other people in traffic to see how they'll react.
