There is some smoke about Calvin to the Hogs

Yuck. I hope not, but if there is a way to get me to root for the Hogs, Kelvin being their HC is the way.

He could definitely have some success in the SEC, I'd think. In a way, maybe easier than the American. The American has some pretty salty basketball programs and coaches, when you think of the success that schools like UH, WSU, Cincy, UCONN, Memphis, Temple, and even Tulsa at times. Memphis is already recruiting better under Penny.

Hope he stays at UH though. I think that is a good spot for him.

Did anyone else notice that Jim Jackson absolutely could not pronounce his name right last weekend? I know lots of people butcher it, but dude pronounced it Calvin every single time for two days!

Arkansas SHOULD be a great basketball program. Can't get it done though. Like Missouri in a way.

Arkansas should be great at everything - all but baseball is a disappointment every year

From the Tulsa World ... KS salary reportedly $1.6 million at Houston.

Seemingly healthy and not looking much older than when he was a Norman resident, Sampson has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Power Five jobs. His current salary reportedly is $1.6 million.

A Houston program insider predicted Sampson “won’t be going anywhere” because the UH administration has been so supportive and because he soon will be rewarded with a significant pay increase.

Getting UH to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984, 35 years ago, is worth some kind of pay raise.

CBSSN had a half hour special on him a couple of weeks ago & they asked him if he’d leave Houston anytime soon. His response was “you don’t mess with happy, & I’m happy.” I think this is nothing more than leveraging for a raise. It ain’t like he hasn’t done it before.

Well, I would be wrong if he took that job. I really didn't think he would leave for any opening except UCLA. Arkansas? The school which one of their "fans" killed the prize horse of head coach Nolan Richardson's because - even though he won a National Championship and went to three Final Fours, couldn't sustain it? THAT Arkansas? I doubt even Kelvin can replicate what Richardson accomplished during his early tenure...but he can do something not even the HOF coach Guy Lewis could do - and that is win a title in Houston. The thing is, Houston's fan base would be ecstatic to just go to the Sweet 16 every 3-4 years...and Coach Sampson doesn't have to worry about any of his pets getting killed, either.

Good point. I think a lot of those OU fans who never warmed up to him were turned off because he not only went on several interviews during his first 5-6 years there, but one of those interviews was for a job that went to Rick Barnes (I think you can guess the school).

It almost seemed that he threw his own name out there for other jobs at times. His name was connected to every job that came open.

That would suck. I am a Kelvin fan but I hate the hogs and my hatred for the hogs would win out.

Think Houston is a better job. IMO

Just don't say that any where near an Arkansas fan. ;)

Tidbit: In 2019, Houston had home wins vs. two teams now in the Sweet-16: Oregon and LSU. Both were close wins, as Houston beat Oregon 65-61; and beat LSU 82-76.

I really think UH is a better job, or at least as good right now & Kelvin should hold out for something better. Arkansas just isn't the program it was 25 years ago. They haven't been to the Sweet 16 in 23 years and it's not like it's a hotbed of talent.

I don't think A&M is a great job either but I think it's a better job than Arkansas is.

step-daughter goes there...they are some delusional fans for sure. We were there last fall, parents weekend, when NT did the fake fair catch...lol.

I was watching OU in a bar and their game was on...90% of the folks weren't even watching...several had to ask what happened on that play.

My cousin's daughter goes there....said they are more interested in who's wearing what at the tailgate then the actual game. I will say..what they wear is something to see as well...:chestram2:

My son is an Arkansas grad. He graduated last May. Their fans are really delusional.
