OU finished 4-17 from behind the arc.
Is it poor shot selection or will this team struggle all year from deep?

I am going with poor shot selection at this time as it appeared everyone was quick to pull the trigger when they saw a small opening.

Shot 15 in the 1st half and the team is -4
Shot 2 in the 2nd half and the team is +15

This team should probably stop shooting 3s

We were launching 3's in the first half. If we keep doing that we will get killed. We have some guys that can hit mid range jumpers. Thats the shots we need to look for if we are going to be competitive.

Poor shot selection. 1st exhibition game, everyone wants to "show off", so to speak. The important thing is improving that shot selection; 3-pointers are great when you make them, but they can kill young teams that launch way too many of them.

One small positive that I saw was the fact that we attempted only 2 three pointers in the second half after attempting 15 in the first half. This shows that this team is willing to stop shooting them when they aren't going in, which is nice...

Pledger needs to take that fadeaway three out of his arsenal.

Sad thing is, conference teams are going to outsize us in the paint and we will settle for 3s more often.

I believe that depends on who is in the game.....I like the fact that cam was ok with going down and getting boards....if you replace thompson with washington we will have two guys that want to stay in the paint....which should result in less threes

I dont think OU has any good shooters outside of Pledgers... probably going to be an issue all year.

Yeah I think you are right. When we hit the 3's we will be competitive, when we cant we will lose bad. It was only one game but our rebounding wasn't impressive at all. So we will be a one and done team if we miss. Plenty of room for improvement though.

It's poor shot selection. When Pledge started shooting off of the dribble, that changed the game. The guards need to incoporate more of a mid range game. It will help their scoring potential and it will help the rebounding issues.

I like Newell's stroke. Cam has potential as well. But I agree with your bigger point....OU is not going to beat people by launching up off balanced threes early in the shot clock.

I want to see us work the ball in/drive and then kick for a three point shot that our guys can take in rhythm.

It's not so much the outsizing, a team should atleast target the post player. The only time the post players are getting passes are on drives by the guards and high post feeds.

Remember how the team played so well with Blake. Blake was targeted in the post, and AJ, WW, and Crock got wide open looks from ball reversal.

It's not rocket science, we are a jump shooting team. If we shoot well from the perimeter, we will be in a lot of games...if not, it's going to get ugly.

pledge and cade should have the green light if they are open ...

newell should also have the open green light ..

we will be a good 3 point shooting team ..
