Freshman point guard hit five 3-pointers and had 24 points in win over No. 9 Texas.

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma freshman Tommy Mason-Griffin won his second consecutive Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week award today after his performance against Texas on Saturday.

In an 80-71 win over the ninth-ranked Longhorns, Mason-Griffin scored a game-high 24 points and added five rebounds and four assists. He was 6-for-12 from the field, 5-for-7 from 3-point range and 7-for-9 from the free throw line in 39 minutes of action.

The point guard was 4-for-5 from behind the arc in the first half and netted 16 of the Sooners' 48 points as they took an 18-point lead at intermission.

On the season, Mason-Griffin is averaging 13.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting a league-best .463 from 3-point distance. He also ranks fourth in the Big 12 in assists and fifth in 3-pointers per game (2.3).

In conference play, the Houston, Texas, native is averaging a team-high 18.3 points per game (most among all league newcomers), is shooting a Big 12-best .519 from behind the arc and ranks second with his 3.4 treys per game. Mason-Griffin has made at least two 3-pointers in 15 of OU's last 18 outings, including all eight of the team's conference contests.

No freshman in school history has shot better from 3-point range for an entire season than Mason-Griffin's current .463 mark.

Kansas State's Denis Clemente was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points and 4.0 assists in wins at Nebraska and Iowa State.

The Sooners host Texas Tech this Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT at Lloyd Noble Center. The game will mark "Blake Griffin Night," as the reigning national player of the year will make his first return to the building since last season. Tickets are still available for $10, $25 and $35 here and at the OU Athletics Ticket Office (800-456-4668).
