Tramel Blog: Jeff Capel Never Immersed in Oklahoma

I think Tramel's a drunk. 100% serious.

You know, I have seen the guy a few times on t.v, and I seriously wondered if he has a problem with the drink. He has that look of a guy who has drank heavy for many years. Obviously I'm basing that solely on a physical appearance, but he does often look hammered/hung over.

This is an odd analogy but I get what he is trying to say and I agree with him.

Also, Berry is the farthest thing from a drunk

Are you honestly making this argument? This cannot be real.

I am not making any argument just agreeing with OUHoops11 that Tramel was asking his twitter followers for their opinion on who should take the shot.

That's just my opinion of what he was doing but by all means I could be wrong.

Tramel is as straight-laced as they come. I have a lot of respect for him because he doesnt mind subtly admitting his faith without beating the reader over the head with it. Now he may take a drink or two and occasionally get drunk but he's far from an alcoholic I can assure you of that. I don't think he drinks at all but I'm not around him 24x7.

Like I said, I'm basing mine totally on how he looks on television.

Here is an interesting footnote: My own father earned two college degrees, played some college and semi pro hoops, and by all accounts was a great man. He worked for a very large Oil Company as a supervisor, and he was active as a deacon in the church. He coached all of my little league sports, and was a family man 1000 times over.

His only little secret was that every morning before going to work, he got hammered, locked in his personal bathroom. Before going to church, he got hammered, before my games, he got hammered, before accepting awards at work, he got hammered, before weddings, funerals, cutting the grass, eating dinner, he hid in his secret room and got hammered.

He died from liver failure and other complications. I still run into people who knew him, worked with him, etc, and they ALL say the same thing: Your dad was a great man, a Christian man, and a hard worker. They usually include how he never drank much, and how much he loved us, all true except the drinking part......

I don't know Tramel from the guy who lives 50 blocks from me, but he appears to be a drinker to me.....

"If you can not attact the message, attact the messenger", is a well worn ,time tested strategy for avoiding the facts.

I am not sure I like the analogy, but I think MsProudSooner is right that he isn't saying anything I haven't read on here a bunch of times. Except, that Tramel is saying that the reason Capel never owned up to the issues with the program is that he never bought into the program or community. I am not sure if that is true or not, but when we were succeeding it felt like he had on foot out the door and was always looking East. Still, I think that Capel did believe in the program. I can't speculate on how he felt about the community, but I thought we treated him well and in return he was at least publicly positive about us.

I believe we can safely say that Berry Tramel has hit a nerve. I can't stop laughing

LOL!

Hey Jeff...thick skin. Get you some if you want to stay in coaching. And, don't read the newspapers or listen to the radio.

I'll also add, the media, particularly the newspaper bunch, would have been much easier on Capel if he had ever given them just a little respect. Big mistake on his part. Maybe next time he is a head coach, he will give his cell phone to reporters so they can contact him from time to time, like most other coaches.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!

As if it's possible the media could have been any easier on Jeff Capel during his tenure at Oklahoma.

Tramel was pretty hard on him and felt he should have been fired after the 2010 season. I'd say the fact he felt that way 1 year after advancing to the elite 8 was pretty harsh.

Sittler was pretty harsh, too.

These are the 2 higher profile sports (print) journalists in the state and both were clamoring after last year he should be getting some heat.

In my original quote, that you quoted, these are the journalists I was speaking of.

What facts? What is the message?

The facts seem to be that Capel thinks that the situation that led to his firing was a relsult of circumstances beyond his control. The message is that Trammel, on the other hand, seems to believe that the situation was as much or moreso the responsibility of the Coach.
