Good for him. I'm impressed that he did this before he's even played in a game. Some kids try to do it 'their way' for a year or more before they figure it out.

Worse is some coaches play kids like that for a year or two. The solution is actually simple. Do it my way or don't play. If you are going to lose games you might as well teach your best players a lesson while you lose. Letting them play however they want teaches them nothing in my opinion. A lot of people didn't like Bobby Knight but his kids played his way or they sat. Coincidentally he won a lot of basketball games.
