Tramel: "OSU fans have spoken on Travis Ford"

I have heard from a couple of OSU guys that I know through business that a "settlement" has been reached and Ford will be gone but they won't come out and flat out fire him. Don't know if it will be portrayed as a mutual parting of ways or how it will be handled.

For some reason you really like to exaggerate the talent Ford is bringing in. 2 of the 3 "4 star" recruits you mentioned are composite 3 star guys. Evans still has a long way to go before he's an "All Big 12 caliber" player, and Carroll and Hammonds average 9 and 10 because someone has to shoot the ball on their squad with Forte out and Evans missing extended time.

Evans doesn't have a long way to go, and Hammonds and Carroll will be much better as 3rd and 4th options instead of 1st and 2nd ones.

Your statement on Evans is way off. You should go look at what he did to us last time b/c you apparently forgotten.

You're not going to have long term success in the big 12 if you constantly play 2 or 3 pg's at a time.(not saying it can't work but he's done it since taking over) Just b/c Page and Forte can shoot the 3, doesn't make them not a PG. If Jimmer Fridette had played his career at OSU, he would have played the 2. And then on top of him always playing multiple PGs, he plays his shooting guards and small forwards at the 4 and 5 positions. Hammonds is a small forward, playing the 4 and taking half of his shots beyond the 3. Nash and Hammonds gives him a height, rebounding, and defensive advantage when playing the small forward position but at the 4 they lose that. And the biggest thing is that he runs off the majority of his post players, he does not develop his post players, and for his tenure there he doesn't play but one post player at a time.

Any person who thinks Juwan Evans isn't an All Big 12 caliber talent is way off.

Evans and Forte will be very tough to defend.... Davon Dillard is a freak athlete with horrible attitude problems, so he will likely not even be on the team but if he gets it together was a top 100 recruit and could be very good...

There is no doubt they will be much more talented, and a much more complete team next year. Again, I bet they end up in the NCAA Tournament. At OSU, what else can you expect? You think they are going to win a National Championship or something? At OSU, like most others, the goal is to simply get in the tournament.

If Ford can get in them in the tournament, they shouldnt fire him until his buyout is reasonable or until his contract is up. If they get into the tournament and keep bringing in talented players, no reason to fire him.

Tramel is 100% right. Holder will likely know this as well.

Most Universities would not their A.D. keeping making boneheaded moves like Holder...Holder should be glad he is at a place that can't figure out how to run a program.......I work with several people who are in deep with OSU from inside the program...T Boone donated about $165 million....Holder invested that and got it up to over $300 million...All he had to say is one word..SELL! and the athletic program would be set and new baseball field would be built....But Holder let it ride until he had to get out before he lost his capital.....Then Holder started a scam where he was into life insurance for people....OSU lost their shirt on that.....Not to mention the Travis Ford contract of 10 YEARS!!!

OSU will not make the tournament with Ford as the coach. The NCAA committee has given him some free passes to the tournament that last few years. 13-14' they lost 8 out of 9 games. If Marcus Smart wasn't on that roster, they wouldn't have made the tournament.(and by that I mean they put Marcus Smart in that tournament not OSU) They lost 8 out of 9 games with Nash, Smart, Brown, and Forte. And then last year, they lost 6 out of their last 7 games and somehow made the tournament.

The reason they were so successful Marcus Smarts 1st year is b/c Brian Williams got hurt and he was forced to play 2 bigs and Jurick got minutes along with Murphy and Cobbins in the post and they played Nash at the 3. When he moved Nash to the 4, they struggled b/c they lost a true post presence down low, size, defense and rebounding. Thats why 13-5 conference record one year returns everyone except Jurick and they go 8-10 the following year.

Ford playing small ball is what is costing his job. He's got the talent but always putting your small forwards at your power forward position has ruined OSU bball.

I don't know why we would be upset for them firing Ford? He's the 3rd best coach in program history. They are much more likely to get someone significantly worse than significantly better.

Awesome. I absolutely love this comment.
