Trammel says Mark Price best OK player ever BUT

Alvan Adams was as good as any of them, and he had an excellent pro career to go with it. Doesn't he still hold the single game rebound record at OU?

Tisdale, Price, and Griffin were all really good. I think Tisdale was injured a bit prior to his pro career, limiting his mobility. Add Mookie to the list. He was a pro all-star as well.

I thought they were talking about Okies.

Price had the better pro career but I think Wayman was the more accomplished collegian. Of course being on that nice Cavs team helped Mark. But for Michael Jordan they would have won a couple of rings.

Wayman got the bone job in the pros. I wouldnt pick one over the other overall.

Price was a 4 time allstar who made the rarified air of 1st team all NBA. Even more rare he was the second player in history (Larry Bird) to join the 50-40-90 club.

He's easily the most accomplished pPRO player in oklahoma history. Blake does have a chance to challenge him but it won't be easy. When you make 1st team all nba you're recognized as the best player in the entire world at your position, let alone a small state like Oklahoma.
Blake already has what 3 all-star appearences ,that is more than Tisdale,Adams, combined, there is no doubt Blake will be the best pro when he is done, and if Tramel thinks Price was a better college player than Tisdale,he needs to put down the crackpipe.

I wonder how many have seen Adams, Tisdale, Blaylock, Griffin, and Price so they can actually make a valid comparison. I might add Lester Lane and Gar Heard to the list.

Griffin is a star in the pros, better than he was in college. He is just now becoming valuable, and could use some improvement in defense. When you pick a "best player," you look at all of the aspects that cause you to win games. At this time, I would say he is more potential than achievement. The best is yet to come as far as an MVP type.

At this point, I would regard Adams as the better pro because he made Phoenix competitive and was kind of the first of a new breed of center in the NBA, almost playing point guard from the free throw line. He did everything that you would want to win.

I think Wayman might have been the best in college, close with Adams. But, an injury limited his mobility as a pro.

Blaylock was recognized as the best defensive player in the league at one time.

mookie wasn't from the state of Oklahoma.

alvan adams was born in lawrence kansas. went to putnam city HS.

depends how we are defining OK player....

bob kurland or way tisdale is probably the answer.

geese ausbie was born in Crescent, Oklahoma.

if Mark Price had to play for the 1980's Cleve Cavs.....

Richard Dumas was the most talented player I ever saw live. Don't know where he fits in this discussion but he was amazing.

Like so many have already said, it depends on the criteria being used. If it's college players from OK, then WWT is the best, and it's not even close. No college player ever garnered the defensive attention Wayman got each night. The guy often had 3 or 4 defenders shadowing him. Even elite players li9ke Karl Malone didn't try to guard him one on one on the low blocks.

Mark Price had a much better pro career, and Blake will probably pass him. Hard to say who was the single best, with the differences in era, etc. As Syb said, most here are probably too young to have seen Alvan Adams play. He also was very good. As far as dominance, college level Wayman may have been the most dominant ever......

Sorry guys, I love Tis as much as anybody, but Price is hands down the best player to come out of the Oklahoma high school ranks!!! Now Blake may have something to say about that before he's done, but not yet. Price was incredible, and if not for playing the point and trying to be a great facilitator, he could have been a great scorer. Still the best shooter I've ever seen in person. Shot was like a machine, just perfect every time. And I agree, if not for the greatness of MJ, he'd have a couple of rings!!

As great as Waymon was, you gotta remember he played in Billy's system too. One that made a guy like Jeff Webster a 20 point scorer, and Jeff never sniffed the league that I can recall. Same with Stacey king. Billy's system was very scorer-friendly. And before y'all roast me, WT is my all-time favorite Sooner in any sport. Lol

If you include Alvan Adams in the discussion, assuming that OU is in OK, he had the best pro record of any of the players discussed. I suspect that Blake will pass him.

As a pro, Alvan outscored Tisdale and Price. He also had more rebounds than Tisdale and Price. He had more steals than Tisdale or Price. What is most remarkable is that he had almost as many assists as Price, only about 1 per game fewer, and Price is listed as a point guard, Alvan as a center. Oh, and Alvan had more blocks than Tisdale or Price. He also played more playoff than Tisdale and Price combined.

I suspect that Blake will pass Adams since he is good and young. But, Adams was the best all-around player I saw at OU. Tisdale was dominant in another way and had much, much more to work with than Alvan did. Alvan had no help. Tisdale is by far the better musician.

If I had the choice, I would have Tisdale at PF and Adams at C, but I would rather have Mookie as my point----or Lester Lane.

I'd love for this to be true, but he had talent around him and still never made a final four. His All American stats were a product of the system, and while he was great, it's laughable to consider him in the same class of college players as Kareem or Walton. He's closer to Maravich.

Do you remember who Walton and Kareem had around them?

Closer to Maravich? You need to bite your tongue there. Pete Maravich was the greatest scorer in the history of college basketball. The court was his range and he didn't even have the benefit of the 3. He had absolutely nothing around him and still scored over 44 ppg.

NO ONE compares to Pete Maravich.
