Well we weren’t solely talking about rebounding. But even if we were, there still is more to it than that. Offensive rebounders usually have a relentless motor and a sense for how the ball will come off the rim, and they are athletic enough that they are hard to block out. Defensive rebounding requires solid technique as far as putting a body on your man. I have no clue whether he has those tools. Maybe he does. But I will say … lots of rebounds require a second jump. If a ball is contested coming off the rim, a lot of times is gets deflected and the first guy to get off the floor a second time is going to be the guys who ultimately gets possession. Think of Mo … he is athletic in some ways, but he isn’t very quick off the floor, so there are multiple times when he should have an easy dunk after catching a pass, but by the time he is able to gather, the defense has recovered.I'm willing to entertain most of your negative knee-jerks, but the guy is 240 pounds jumping 34 inches with a 7'4" wingspan. Even if he only jumps once, he's going to come down with his fair share of boards.
