Transfer Portal 2025

From Lusk:

Heading into the weekend, the plan was for Derrion Reid to have a Zoom call with Ole Miss, and I’m told that Zoom did take place. I wouldn’t rule the Rebels out just yet, but I’m hearing that NC State is currently Oklahoma’s primary competition. Feels like it’s OU versus NC State at this point.

I know most here don't love advanced statistics

NC State just signed three 3/4s in the last three days. Hopeful we can pull this off.

Is he actually going to play? Idk what the point of him was for pm
I think he was a flyer in year 1, but he seems to be a great kid and a great team member. Let him hang around in year 2 because we didn't need / couldn't use the roster spot.

Ole Miss and Bama are still concerns, but seems positive for us. Finishing with Reid and Payne would be amazing.

the ACC balance of power is interesting. Duke is still good but UNC is dropping. and NC State making a move with Wade. I have surprised the ACC has been able to keep it together as a hoops league first for so long in a football driven conference alignment world. Clemson football helped, but cracks are showing.

If OU closes the deal with Derrion Reid, this will be, without question, the best recruiting class of Porter Moser’s time at OU.

High School: Kai Rogers, Andreas Holst, Alec Blair

Portal: Tae Davis, Nijel Pack, Xzayvier Brown, Reid (?)
With Reid, our portal class will land in the top 10. Probably mid-30s for our high school class. Add Nwankwo and Jones as newcomers who haven't played for OU yet, and it's a really good group of incoming players.

It’s amazing what can happen when you’re competitive with the dollars.

Anyone seen payne play? How would you describe ? Compared to wague, better, worse or about the same?

A few really good videos out there. He is pretty similar to Wague in terms of style of play. He won't shoot 3 pointers and scores primarily in the flow of the offense (pick and rolls, cuts, put-backs, etc.). Really not significantly skilled on offense but seems to be a solid finisher and dunks aggressively in traffic. Very good rebounder, solid all-around defender. Looks good in transition especially and great offensive rebounder. Not an all conference guy (or even a regular starter), but all in all, looks like he can play a very similar role to Wague without a lot of drop-off and might bring some complementary skills based on match-ups, lineups, etc.

i think they both currently have 0 players in the NBA
Depends how you consider transfers in this new nil environment. Elijah harkless played for Utah jazz down stretch of season. Is that one for mosier? I know he did not finish at ou, but so many transfers due to just nil changes how we compare.

Overall, the ACC has dropped off a cliff. They were once the best bball conference in the country and routinely one of the best over the last 50 years. They were a deep conference of really good to great teams. They have been slowly gutted over the last decade or so. Now, they have 1 elite team and maybe 2 other good teams. The rest is very mediocre or terrible. Many of their historically good teams are now terrible. I wouldn’t say they’ve kept it together at all. They’re barely surviving and are facing real threats of being broken apart and picked over in realignment.
