Transfers Possible

I don’t think this will hurt OU much, if at all. I also don’t think it will hurt college basketball. It will affect duke, Kansas, UK, etc. It might make college basketball better with more parity and more competition.

Opposite really. Now those guys are going to get the best players that stay 2-4 years. Non blue bloods & mid majors can compete more consistently playing unheralded juniors & seniors against elite freshmen.

OU has consistently got top 150 guys, now they’ll get fewer.

I disagree - under this model blue bloods will have fewer ‘ships to give annually, and thus will need to be more selective in terms of offers. Also players on the team will have more seniority, so if younger studs don’t get the PT they are looking for, transfers will continue to happen.

The blue bloods will also get to cherry pick smaller school studs earlier than a grad transfer as well. Non blue blood schools get their transfers that couldn’t get PT, blue bloods are going to take their stars and put them with the guys who are getting PT.

Another 5 star decommits to join G league. Could this be a trend? A sign of the future? Idk. I think it could lead to many elite players choosing to get paid and develop in a pro league instead of playing in college. Still too early to say but it’s interesting.

This is why I thought the XFL had a shot if they had allowed underclassmen.

We will pay you $100,000 and you can get big endorsement deals.

I saw one of the "OU Insiders" on Twitter allude to an OU BBall transfer out reconsidering. Truth to that? Jamal not finding the waters too inviting?

While I didn't want JB to leave, I'd only want him to stay if he's had a true change of heart. We don't need an unhappy or bitter player on the team.

This I completely agree with. Seems it would be terrible for team chemistry. I mean, how invested is he? Is the only reason he's returning is because nobody else wanted him? Not good.

On the other hand, it's possible his initial decision to leave was a 51/49 type of thing and the recent news that he likely would have to sit out a year (and the fact that his family lives in Norman) could sway him to legitimately want to stay.

Think of a guy his age breaking up with a girlfriend to play the field and then a couple of weeks later realizing how great she was and how crazy he still is about her. I mean, it does happen, so who knows?

I’d love to have him back. From everything I’ve heard and read about JB the past two years, he is a great teammate and very unselfish. I can’t see him being a distraction or bad for chemistry if he were to come back. I have no clue exactly why he decided to transfer or whether he is actually thinking about returning, but if that’s the route he takes, I’d welcome him back.

I’m on board, Wichita! I would love to see JB write the proper end to his story at OU. I predicted he would be a star someday, and I still believe he has the potential to be that good.

I'd take him back in a nanosecond. You cannot have too many guards in today's game.

I too would happily welcome him back if he wants to return. And I like to think he's the kind of kid who would be motivated to make things right by working his tail off.

JB to UTEP?

Man, having to live in El Paso seems like the worst possible outcome for him. Wish him well.

Teams like utep might not even have a basketball program this time next year.

Yikes. Really seems to validate those that weren't concerned about his departure.

He will regret this move someday. He had a much better situation at ou than his play deserved and krugers ass would have continued it..

Who would you have played over him? Apparently LK & staff had a meeting with him challenging him to be more aggressive & work on his shot. Doesn’t sound like Kruger was wanting his offense to continue that way.

I'm not sad he's transferring. Im saying JB had a dream scenario for him and kruger prolly would have given similar minutes to JB regardless
