man we don't need other big powers to start coming into play. Really like that in the Rivals article he talks on and on about how he wants it to feel like family to him, right after he said OU coaches just feel like family to him. Thought it was funny, but definitely great news

His style of play would seem to fit what OU wants to do, more than what IU or MSU do. Neither IU nor MSU are what I'd consider up-tempo teams. Hopefully that, coupled with MSU getting in on him so late, and the Buddy connection, we will see him in Norman when it's all over.

I definitely agree with mich st., but I think Indiana gets up and down pretty good. I just find it weird mich st. just came into the picture and their already the leader.

Mich St. is leading before the visit? Wow. Where did you hear that?

Ok didn't mean leading, but the predictions from that website a majority of them say mich st will end up with him. I realize those are probably just guesses but was just confused on why they would think that when mich st just came into the picture.

It's entirely possible that some of the prognosticators are more impressed by Michigan State's interest than the young man is. They might just be assuming that Michigan State would win out over OU with nothing solid to base it on.

Has this young man spent a winter day in Michigan. It starts around Holloween and it doesn't end until the end of March. I lived in the Detroit area for more than 10 years. Winter sucks in that state. I would much prefer 100 degree heat in the summer than those winters.

:clap

Ditto what Denver said! I lived in Michigan myself once, so I know from experience how long and depressing the winters there can be. Saying they "suck" is putting it mildly. I think it would be a lot worse for a kid who grew up on a tropical island.

18-22 year old kids in college don't care what the weather is like. It's about the college and basketball experience.

Not entirely true. Granted I'm not a top D1 Basketball prospect, I did not want to play college lacrosse up north, rather I went down south to avoid the cold weather, so you never know with the kids.

If you are going to college somewhere like Michigan and coming from somewhere around Oklahoma, you should seriously consider the weather. There is a major difference. You walk to class in college. That is not going to be a nice experience in Michigan on most days between November and the end of March. When it is a nice experience, it is still going to be cold it just won't be bitter cold.

My recollection from being a child is you bundle up before you leave the house. This means, gloves or mittens, hat, heavy jacket, possibly a scarf and possibly boots. Every kid had "moon boots" when I was a kid in Michigan and we wore them a lot. Anyone that thinks there is not a major difference between the weather in Michigan and Oklahoma simply has not spent enough time in both places. I wouldn't go back.

Not saying that some kids won't consider the weather where they choose college, but schools like Michigan and Ohio State end up with a lot of kids on their sports teams from places like Florida and Texas. MSU recruits primarily in state for basketball. All that being said, the weather is still not a factor in most kids decisions on where they attend college.

And there is a big difference between lacrosse played outside and basketball played inside.

You're right, cold weather, ice and snow is not a deterrent for everyone. Heck, I knew a few fools in Michigan who loved it there! ;)

I think all we're saying is that a kid from the tropics may wish he had chosen a school in a milder climate when he's freezing his rear end off this winter.

It definitely wasn't for me. My wife and I couldn't wait to leave, and the weather had everything to do with it. It's downright depressing when you don't see the ground from late November until mid-March in a normal winter. And, even when you do, it's cold, overcast, windy or rainy, or all of the above. Sunny, pleasant days are rare. Oh, we had snowmobiles and ice skates, and chains to put on the back wheels of our cars. It's just that no matter what you do to pass the time, whether it's indoors or outdoors, the crappy weather ten months out of the year in Michigan stays the same.

Oklahoma is every bit as bad, heat-wise, as Michigan is, cold-wise. And then there are the tornadoes.

I doubt a college kid worries too much about the weather, but don't kid yourself that Oklahoma doesn't have weather to scare a kid off, if he's impressionable along those lines.

Both schools probably pray that the weather will put it's best foot forward when recruits are visiting.

Well, at least Tum Tum being from The Bahammas has to help us somewhat!!!!!!! We are the furthest South school he is considering.....so if avg temp comes into play....I like our chances!!!!!

I live in both places for at least 10 years and I completely disagree.

You clearly have a greater tolerance for heat than cold. Plenty of people are the other way around.

Me, I hate summer. If the temp never got above 70 degrees, that would suit me fine (and if the humidity level, which is the big problem with summer here in NYC, never got above 30, I'd be ecstatic).
