Underwood headed to Illinois

When you hear poeple talk about how they don't negotiate new contracts during season this exactly why. He absolutely has a right to triple his salary. However both he and Holder should have known better than to let this come to s head before the season was over. They could have saved this pissing match until after the season

ummm....your season is over

Underwood signed his Illini contract a day after OSU lost in the tournament. Negotiations had to have been going on for awhile, and they agreed to wait on the announcement until the season ended.

To ByronHouston - Who do the Pokes fans want to replace Underwood that they believe they can reasonably get? I'm sure you all want Bill Self - heck, OU football wanted Darrel Royal 50+ years ago. Sometimes, we have to accept that some alum aren't meant to coach at their alma mater. Do you go for another successful mid-major coach like Underwood? Do you make a run at Marshall (and deal with the baggage of his wife)?

No I don't think he is special or that good of a coach. Someone called him a great coach.....are you effing kidding me? He had Duane Wade at Marquette and had success while Wade was there. At Indiana (a blue blood), he made the tournament four times in 9 years and never past the Sweet 16.

I would gladly take Crean at OSU....not the least bit impressed.

I would not be excited if they were to get Crean. He is a really good dude. The kind of man it would be very hard to dislike and mock. Dougie would be great for OU fans. He may turn out to be a good coach but there is so much material to mock and make fun of.

Word out of Stillwater is that Underwood didn't get along with Holder. I don't doubt that for a minute, but I'm sure the extra $2 million in salary had a lot to do with it too.

Besides Booger, who really gets along with Holder?

Yes, it is. It's also awkward. Underwood doesn't appear to be comfortable with where Holder put his hand. Maybe that's why he decided to get out of town. Just sayin'...

On the franchise this morning, they were saying MH told Underwood that football was more important than basketball!

EVEN if you believe that, you don't say it....TO THE COACH!

Do you think for a minute Lon would be here if Joe C told him that???

caption contest" Let's show them why they call you underwood"

I played on the Ardmore HS golf team with Holder. He is a year older than me
If you looked up the definition of a PRICK, then Holder would be at the top of list.

I don't doubt it. All sorts of stories about jerky behavior, even from Aggies. Nobody but there would he be tolerated.

All because they THINK Pickens takes care of them financially. This situation is Exhibit A that he doesn't.

He does actually (see Booger Pickens stadium) but he's not giving any more till O-Stank wins a NC. And I think he couldn't care less about the other sports.

Not so sure that's true. The $160M was lost by his hedge fund and they lost $30M with the Gift of a Lifetime. Tramel today talked about his Estate, but that is subject to change, and you can see that crusty old SOB giving them less late in the game when they haven't delivered "him" a NC.

Even if he has been good to them, the Ags should insist on either (a) unlimited funds now so the Underwood thing doesn't happen, or (b) removal of Holder. But they don't/won't. Embarrassing for them. Funny for us.

Yes, he lost some money, but he gave more than he lost. Without him, O-Stank would have worst facilities in Big 12 and one of the worst in P5 conferences. I think because of Booger, Holder is off limits, in terms of firing. Booger requested that he was given AD job before he made his original large donation. Probably the reason Hargis is Pres too. He's pulling all the strings (especially football related) in spite of him saying he doesn't. I don't believe MH makes any decision with regards to AD without consulting Booger.

You never really lose on invested money until you spend it. Alternatively you never earn it either. He the mans that is mainly credited for keeping Boones money flowing

That being said I've heard he can be a a$$. But then, aren't we all?
