I think the issue becomes, who do they get? If they weren't willing to give Underwood a raise, they aren't going out and getting a good coach because they won't pay. The other issue becomes, who wants to work with Holder? You've seen his issues with Gundy, and now issues with Underwood. Who is going to want to go there besides a dude from a small school?

Gottlieb would energize the fanbase, would be cheap, and would allow you to say "I tried an alum, it didn't work out"


Plus, it would be hilarious if he got the job as an OU fan.

Has Gotlieb coached anything above the youth Y league? He might be successful if hired, but if he bombs osu will be even more of a laughingstock than they are now. Just saying it's risky. Plus DG is an a hole!

I don't think he's an idiot and I liked listening to his broadcasts. I just don't think he has the type of experience that would impress really good recruits when you compare him to the other coaches who are recruiting these players.

Poke State fans have such a huge inferiority complex that they only trust a Poke to coach their teams. It's nice when that works out but I'm not sure it does that often. Then you have the Stoolwater effect and not much you can do about that!

This speaks almost exclusively to Holder and Booger! Booger is the AD of Poke State, don't kid yourself! He just has his "yes" man, Holder, as the front man. They are both snakes and keep gambling all the time, probably winning less than half the time; i.e. all the money invested by Booger that they lost big time (lOSUr), giving Napoleon a 10 year contract (lOSUr), fightin' with Gundy (lOSUr) and paying Underwood on the cheap and not wanting to renegotiate (after TF fiasco, I'm sure) (lOSUr).

You get what you pay for and lOSUr got the devil when they paid for (or got paid from) Booger and his sidekick, Holder!

That was the all-time best. Booner became a billionaire without understanding that insurance companies aren't just paying out free money. Gave me hope, knowing if that buffoon could make it there's still hope for me.

I agree. That would be a ridiculous choice, IMO, and I'm not sure why so many here talk about as though they're seriously considering it, or that they should. It's not like OSU will be able to hire anyone they want but they can surely do a lot better than Gottlieb.

Would OSU make a call to Bill Self and if so would he take it? He seems to be ready for something new and his program at KU has taken a good hit with all the offcourt issues this past year. KU fans aren't tired of him and neither is the admin, I don't think, but he seems bored to me.

Maybe he feels sorry for OSU and wants to revive them? If they call him, I think he considers it but I have no idea if he considers it very long.

Don't forget, his son is a senior at KU this year so that is out of the way.

Just a crazy thought.

He is a hell of a coach. However, nobody knows if he can recruit which is just as important if not more. It's like a sports radio show host told me yesterday at a St Patricks Day party, Underwood just reset his shot clock with this move. His recruiting to OSU was not very good and neither was it very good at SFA.

If in 4 years he's out at Illinois because they find out he can't recruit, he doesn't need to work another day in his life.
