ok, i've been out of the loop a lot lately. but is there seriously talk about TMG NOT coming back?! i've seen it briefly mentioned in passing on a couple other posts.
where's he going; pro's, transfer, Europe, home?! i havent the slightest clue. did he and Capel have disagreements or does he not want to be a part of the program?
It mainly just speculation but Jeff was on with James Hale today and during the interview James asked if he was excited about the future of the program and the players that will be returning and Jeff didn't mention TMG at all during the entire interview which could mean something is up or there is noting at all.
I really wish that James had asked him specifically about TMG. Seems like the natural thing to do after Coach failed to mention him....
Based on what I've read and been sent I'm going to be surprised if he comes back. Apparently a few national guys have stated they think he's gone. This program is imploding.
might be a motivational tool that Capel is trying to send. One thing that must happen is TMG must buy into the job and philosophy of a point guard. This is where it hurts to not have a Senior pg like AJ mentoring a guy like TMG. Getting defenders into place, fighting through screens and roating, making sure the ball is fed to the post, keeping the ball moving and driving and collapsing the defense are the roles of a pg. TMG has to buy into this philosophy. It's not always about shooting off of the high screen.
The kid has great skills. I have rarely saw any pg that can drive towards the baseline from the top of the key to the side baseline and fade away for 15ft jumpers so prolifically. However, that skill has to be met with a higher basketball IQ, vocal leadership, and more desire throughout the game.
"a few national guys"
Have any links?
jus my opinion from a distance: i think ou and capel might be a lot better off with warren returning and tmg leaving then the reverse.
I'd like to see those links as well.
Also, I rarely disagree with coolm, but I'm content to let the chips fall where they may regarding TMG [and WWIII]. Without knowing anything about the overall situation, if a player does not want to be here, it does the team no good for him to stay...to be clear, I do not know if that applies to TMG or not, and I don't want anyone to take this post as a "we don't need him" type deal.
To me, we could recruit an entirely new roster of JUCO and HS kids and have a season comperable to what we had last season, I am just hoping that the growing pains we put up with last season pay off in the future.
A Scout guru named Evan Daniels said "If TMG is back at Oklahoma, I'll be quite surprised" on the Phog.net premium board. That's the only "national type guy" I've heard say it.

Absolutely agree, but I think what Coolm meant by 'suck it up' is that he needs to maybe have an attitude adjustment in regards to the work that needs to be done and buy in to the team concept. If that can be done, we NEED TMG BACK. If not, then we don't.
