Bruce Weber resigns at K-State. Other than his 1st year where he had Martin's players & the 2 years with Brown, Wade, Stokes, & Sneed he has been awful.

This was sure to happen because he came into the season pretty much knowing it was NCAA tourney or bust. He had one of the oddest tenures I can recall. He won a couple league titles and took them to an Elite 8, yet had a bunch of truly terrible seasons. Other coaches swear by his Xs and Os ability and KSU always plays hard, but it was definitely time for a change.

good coach not good enough recruiter to win in the Big 12

Thanks for sharing, MsProudSooner! Props to Weber for calling out the cheating bastards. As Lon said, all of the cheaters are in the tournament except 1 (boynton). Cheating almost always prospers in college sports sadly.

I like that Lon is talking crap on these other teams. Good for him and Weber here

KT Turner may not get the job but he'll be in the conversation.

Moser, please hire Weber as an assistant if one of our assistants takes a higher level job elsewhere.

Yes....a very odd tenure with a very large "spread error" of success. I am in the camp that still thinks Weber is a pretty good coach....maybe much of that is due to OU's lack of success against him though.

Where did Weber play (baseball)?

What job is currently open?

Hmm, maybe.

yup

ku won't EVER get punished...I'd bet $$ on it.

not a good recruiter so .. no thanks

He's one of the best game plan/game adjustment coaches in the country. Not a good recruiter at all. He would be a great asset on a bench even if he's not a primary recruiter.

I just don’t see him taking as assistant job at his age. Plus, as much as he micromanages, would he be ok with having to sit his butt on the bench and not direct traffic every second of the game?

I agree on all counts. Weber inherited a talented bunch from Bill Self at Illinois and took them to the title game. By the time those players were gone, he was about to bring home his #1 target (who committed to Illinois), Eric Gordon. Kelvin Sampson came in and snatched him away (caused a lot of bitter feelings along the way), and that was the beginning of the end of the Bruce Weber era in Illinois. I would say his biggest accomplishment was getting KSU to the Elite Eight in 2018 because he did it with his own players...it's what bought him an extra four years at a time when KSU fans were looking for reasons to dump him.

I could see Weber closing out his career at a school similar to the one that put him on the map, Southern Illinois. Wherever he goes, he won't be out-coached, but his teams may be less talented.

I've never been a big fan of Weber but you have to give him credit for running a clean program. Kind of sad to see guys like him and Kruger out of the game while guys like Calipari, Self and Pearl continue on and end up in the big dance.

Weber was a very effective defensive coach and their defenses usually forced the opponent to struggle on offense. That is why he beat us so many times. He would be an asset to a team that needed to improve their defense but clearly abhors the slim that men's college basketball recruiting has turned into. Not a good fit at OU because that would be a duplication of our main strength.

My KSU fans all hated him. I think the majority of KSU fans never liked him. I could never understand why though. I thought he was a good coach for them. They played good D and I thought he got a lot out of what he had. I guess you could say he didn’t recruit future NBAers but that’s a real stretch for criticism in the Little Apple IMO.
