Villanova is playing pretty good basketball, but hard to swallow knowing we smoked them.

And, this is why polls are a complete joke. Villanova runs through that pitiful conference every year, and never does anything in the tournament. Maryland has no wins of consequence.

They've beaten NO ONE.

You DO NOT get rewarded for losing to a CRAPPY Kansas State team! If you didn't think OU would drop, you are fooling yourself. Teams win behind a team who loses, they move up. A team on top loses, they move down.

Agree that OU deserved to drop in the polls, but K-State is NOT a crappy team. Entering Saturday they were top 50 in RPI and KenPom and are now 35/39 respectively. KenPom rates their defensive efficiency top 15 in the country. If K-State can pick up another quality win or two, there's a pretty good chance they'll be in the tournament.

We're #3 in AP, too, with 7 first-place votes (#4 Iowa received 11 first-place votes).

Barring a pretty major collapse, I feel good about our chances of getting a 1 or 2 seed. The loss to KSU hurt in terms of the conference race, but dropping a couple of spots in the poll doesn't really matter right now.

I'm VERY ready to beat Texas tho.

We win our two home games this week and we are right back in it.

No doubt that. It just shows because there are so many teams who never play each other that college basketball rankings are a crapshoot. I kept asking myself, even with our great outside shooting, how could we be number # 1 when we have no decent inside bench play? When so many teams do.

As far as Kansas State, they could beat Villanova on their home court, easily. You know who else could probably whip Villanova on their home court - Texas. If the Horns can knock off North Carolina, they could surprise Villanova or Maryland.

We'll work our way back into a number 1 seed, maybe first overall, but our bench has to show up. Manyang, Buford and James need to step up, quick.

KSU would be one of Villanova's best wins.

We win our two games this week and I think we basically have a top 2-seed locked up.

the Gonzaga model

Nothing to be concerned with. I figured we'd drop a spot, maybe two. First place votes are scattered all over so it just goes to show there is no clear cut #1 this year.

All that matters in the 1 Seed in the South region. That is it. Big12 Conference it way to strong to not carry thru loses like this. KSU isn't that bad of a team, certainly compared to other conferences 7th place teams.

It's all good. Now BEAT TEXASS!

Exactly, people who think KSU isn't a good team are flat-out ignorant. Their record would be much better and they would likely be a tournament team with a little more luck in close games. They are a top 40 team in the country and the metrics back that up.
