Here is why OU should win this game.

1. WVU is bad at shooting BTA. We shouldn't even guard the 3-pt line unless one of their players gets hot. We can sag inside and take away scoring in the paint and improve defensive rebounding. Make them beat us from outside. Something they haven't been able to do.

2. WVU is bad at defending the 3-pt line. We have good 3-pt shooters in Sharane, Kornet, Ortiz, and Derica. We should be able to make 2-3 sharp passes (preferably inside/out) and find an open shooter and take advantage of the Mountaineers' poor defense.

3. WVU is about as bad as we are at shooting free throws. Even when we foul it is unlikely they they will burn us at the line.

A key will be how well we defend Holmes (6'1" guard who averages 22 PPG) and Fields (6'1" forward who averages 16 PPG). If we sag inside on defense, it should help tremendously in defending both girls.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but I wonder how our youngin's will handle the Mountaineers pressure defense. Will they be able to rebound against a very aggressive team. Will they be able to guard and not allow one of their players to have a career day on us.

Our free throw shooting has been improving each game and I feel good about that, because this could be the deciding factor against an aggressive defense. I agree we need to play a lot of inside/out basketball to create open three's and good 12-15 foot shots. We have a good opportunity to start off the conference season 3-0 if we play solid fundamental basketball, and keep our turnovers to a reasonable level. I am anxious to see how the kids handle another ranked team, could be the start of a new season on a positive.

The statistics suggest that this should be a very close game. We are a slightly better shooting team, especially from beyond the arc. But, they are a fairly dominating team on the boards with a very good offensive rebounding team, something that gives us problems. That is a major concern. They also have a lot more experience; four juniors and three seniors.

I'm not sure what to make of their performance. An undefeated Mississippi State beat them by thirteen. But, that OU would probably be undefeated had we played Mississippi State's schedule. Ohio State beat them by about forty-two points, 96-54, and Ohio State isn't a world-beater this year, having four losses. WVU doesn't really have a good win. At least, we did beat Washington and Illinois. Experience and rebounding would suggest that WVU has a big edge. Performance favors OU.

Can someone please tell me why we are guarding the 3-pt line? They are a poor 3-pt shooting team and are 0-5 today. That makes no sense to me.

We should be sagging off of them and getting more bodies in the paint to combat their offensive rebounding - at least until they hit a few (if they hit a few). On the good side, nice start again for Gioya.

Totally agree. We could stop some of their interior scoring and it would help rebounding.

How can we look so good but look so bad one half.

How can we look so good but yet so bad in one half.

Too much standing around and too much dribbling. We look good when we pass the ball and move. If it wasn't for Gioya we would be in deep trouble right now.

The two treys they hit got them back in it.

We were getting killed on the boards until Kornet and Treece came in. Then you began to see some blocking out. Don't understand why Kornet came out. Did she have two fouls.

Little really struggling and Campbell-Olds too. I'm really concerned about Sharane's productivity the last 5 or 6 games.

Maddie looks to be moving pretty well and playing heads up ball.

Carter has carried us but she started trying to do too much just before the half. She is really quick.

I liked the way Vionese ran the court to block that shot. A real brick on the free shot though.

We shouldn't worry about them shooting 3s as long as their percentage is below 30%. I think we could get in their heads if we backed off about 6-8 feet and said, "shoot, shoot". They cannot beat us from outside. They can from the inside.

Holmes only scored 5 points in the first half. I will bet money should scores a lot more than that in the second half unless we adjust our defense.

Gioya----where has this Gioya been? She has been good the past two games. She was destroying WV until she had three of the four turnovers that let WV back into the game late in the half. She is blowing by Holmes, and, in this half, she looked like a better player than Holmes. Interesting.

Edwards and LaNesia Williams did well. After playing well in the last game, Peyton is trying to dribble in a crowd in this one. NO. She is not that good of a ball handler.

Vionese and McKenna seem to want to play more than Kay Kay does.

I agree just pack the paint and let them shoot as many threes as
they want if they knock them down just tip your hat to them.

I would like to see Derica get some minutes and see if she can knock down some 3s.

Hopefully she has turned the corner of her career. (knocking on wood)
