West Virginia

Very, very proud of our guys last night.
Pretty much a perfect test of mettle.
Down 14 in the 2nd half against a team that already beaten us, Martin looked to be completely unguardable, no Maddie and no one was having a special game to that point to ease her absence, players being challenged by the staff to give more ... a lot of teams would've folded up and took the L, but this group was having none of that.
Just a special effort; I appreciate our focus, grit, determination and heart.
It's one thing to imagine winning a game like this; it's another to execute it and store that experience in your soul.
Playing like this - and knowing we can - will be of great value to us as the journey continues.

Excellent post!!

In the three games prior to last night, Vivi had been 10 of 29 from the field (34.48%) for 25 points and 17 rebounds---total.

Last night, Vivi was 12 of 18 for 33 points and 13 rebounds.

Resurrection.

We needed someone to step up big time to overcome the loss of Maddie. She did.

Yes, she did.....after halftime! :ez-laugh:

I wonder if Sherri will think about starting Vivi and Nance together, or stick with the 4 guard line up...

Come on girls make it 24-6 or 23-7 at least going into the Big 12! You can do it!

They tried that last night. First possession mulkey through it away trying to pass to vivi. Second possession, vice versa. Sherri had had enough by then and took mulkey out.

Mulkey needed a redshirt year imo, she not near ready

I don't think they have practiced any high-low passes with the posts. Doesn't look like it. Frankly, if Nancy is high and at the free throw line, the low should be easy. If they guard Nancy, they can't double-team Vivi. Shoot. Pass only if they are not doubling. Practice. Takes practice learning the lobs.

I don't think Nancy has much experience in receiving lobs. That didn't seem to be what they did at Cypress. Vivi is not a leaper, and that isn't the ideal way to get it to her.

19-6, 10-3 in conference.

2/11 at Texas Tech
2/14 week off
2/18 Texas
2/21 at Kansas State
2/25 at TCU
2/27 Baylor

Prior to Maddie's injury, I thought we could beat Tech, K-State, and TCU on the road and possibly handle Texas in Norman, like every year. I wasn't confident about Baylor. With Maddie injured, I think the only game in which we should be favored would be TCU. We can make a fight of it at Tech and K-State, maybe pull it off for a 22-8 year. We need a healthy Maddie to take Texas or Baylor. Maybe by tournament time...

I watched most of the TCU-Tech game, and to be quite honest, they really are not very good. However both teams do have some shooters and on the road we need to play strong tough defense. They don't have any one to answer Vivi. I look for two hard fought wins there. K-State will be a crap shoot. We shouldn't go any worse than 21-9 and 12-6.

Beginning Saturday's games:

Texas 13-0
Baylor 12-1
Oklahoma 10-3
Kansas State 7-5
West Virginia 4-8
Iowa State 4-8
TCU 4-8
Oklahoma State 3-9
Texas Tech 3-9
Kansas 2-11

With five games left, OU has clinched at least a tie for fourth. A win Saturday would eliminate West Virginia, Iowa State, and TCU from any potential to tie OU.
