What a soft team

For some reason I recalled a larger gap. I thought Memphis and Duke had higher RPI's as well to be honest.

No way our RPI is 5th best if BG doesn't get hurt and we win the 3 games we would have won. I still think we lose at Mizzou the week before the conference tourney though. They were on fire. Easily a 1 seed.

If OU beats Texas and KU they are probably the fourth #1 seed. A win over Baylor in the second round of the Big XII tournament would have certainly iced it (ironically, they beat KU in the first round that year and lost in the championship to Mizzou).

Completely disagree with you. Pitt only had four losses that season and that was the most of any #1 seed in that tournament. All four of the #1 seeds had much better RPI's than Oklahoma as well. Oklahoma could have won the Texas and Kansas game and it only would have meant the difference between which #2 seed we received and really would have only left us in a more difficult bracket to reach the Elite 8 since we almost certainly had the easiest road to reach that far of any of the #2 seeds in the tourney. You are completely revising the history of that season overall on the landscape of college basketball not just Oklahoma basketball.

I won't refute your other statements since everyone else has already successfully done so, but I'm curious to see how you came to the conclusion that OU "almost certainly" had the easiest road to the Elite 8. Mainly, because OU defeated #3 seed Syracuse to advance to the Elite 8.

How was OU's road to the Elite 8 so much easier than every other #2 seed that season?
