I was unable to post Saturday during or after the game, as I was having way too much fun enjoying the bounce back victory versus our foes from Stillwater.
Quick Game Thoughts - (I'll keep em somewhat quick, and move onto this weeks info.)
1- Buddy! Wow, Buddy! Probably the most impressed I've ever been with him live. I know he went off in the Bahamas, but this was more impressive IMO. Maybe just because I got to see it, or maybe just because it was against the pokes. Either way, what a game for Buddy!
2- When the pokes are off, they are baaad. I caught their game @ South Carolina earlier this year, and this was how they shot. At that time, I thought they might be the worst team in the Big 12. Since then, they have played a lot better. But when you go the first half, and majority of the second half, shooting 0-16 from 3 point, you just aren't going to win. Seriously, we probably win even if Buddy doesn't put the icing on the cake with his stellar performance! :woot
3- I've been giving Woodard a pretty hard time recently, rightfully so IMO. BUT, he played MUCH better Saturday. Limited mistakes and actually made some shots. Glad he could get things back together, hopefully it is not temporary.
4- I said at the beginning of last week that I thought we needed to atleast split. Losing by ~20 @WVU hurts, but a equally dominant win in Norman and I am happy. Split a tough week, lets move on!
This week!
Tonight - Big Monday - @KU
1. Although I received crap on here for DVR'ing the OSU @ KU game, there was an obvious purpose. We just played OSU, and now have to go to the Fog.
2. KU is young, and makes a lot of mistakes, but they are VERY talented.
3. Oubre is a potential matchup problem for any opponent they face. If we don't let him get into double digits, we have a great shot!
4. Perry Ellis/Cliff Alexander - Guys can play. But, they (moreso Cliff) also are prone turnovers. Big matchup for Spangler/Thomas. If they can get after Cliff from the get go, it will be huge. OSU did a good job of not letting Ellis or Alexander beat them. I bet we see similar strategy from us tonight.
5. KU coming off of a loss is tough. They will be hungry. I think we keep it close, and it could potentially come down to the last possession.
Saturday @ Baylor
1. Have to admit that I've only seen Baylor play one full game this year. But they obviously have been surprise so far this year.
2. They have guys who can play. No doubt about it. They have ever since Drew has been there, and probably will for awhile (unless some recruiting investigation finally happens down there).
3. They are a pretty good team. But I like us to win by 5-10 down there. Lon has their number..
I predict a split. I have us losing a close one in Lawrence, and winning by 5-10 at Baylor. FYI, if KU was coming off of a win @ISU, I'd say that we win. But to beat KU at KU, you not only have to beat KU... You have to beat the refs too. We can't let they live at the line and shoot 50 FT's, like they've come accustomed to.
