What is the deal with all of these ESPNU only games?

I refuse to pay Cox even more money for their "Sports & Information pack", so I don't get ESPNU. So the only way for me to watch the KU game and to watch tonight is to sit at my computer for 2 hours. That's fun. It's a pretty sad commentary on the state of basketball in Oklahoma when a Bedlam game tips at 6 pm and is only broadcast by ESPNU.

What channel did you expect it to be on?

I'm wondering what happened to the local conference games that weren't picked up by ESPN being broadcast on KJRH (local NBC affiliate). Am I losing my mind or didn't that used to be the standard?

espnU is on in over 70 mil homes in the united states ... (espn just hit 100) this is a national TV game

if you don't want espnU espnews espn classic NFL network NBA network nhl network CBSsports network NBCsports network .... and cox sports HD ..

well then you are not really a sports fan ...

Both teams are not good. It's no secret. Ratings will be crappy especially with the BCS game on.

I'll ignore the pointless, idiotic replies and wait for someone to address my last comment about big 12 conference games being broadcast on KJRH.

non national (this game is national) are on the "big 12 network" which in OKC is fox sport OK or the CW

I guess I'm just wondering if this is going to become a trend of putting games on ESPNU, calling them "national", and no longer showing them on CW or KJRH.

we get more money from it being on espn than on local channels.

its not "calling them national" ...

ESPNU is a national channel in over 70mil homes ... (not yours but clearly you are not a sports fan)

this is part of the big 12 national deal with espn

this has nothing to do with the big 12 network games

I was so struck by you calling me "not a sports fan" I just called up Cox in shame and ordered every single sports channel they have. Now I'll get all of that thrilling programming that is so essential for "real" sports fans.

If you don't have Australian Rules Football TV, you aren't a real sports fan!

Not poor, just refuse to throw away money on stupid **** I'll watch about 5 times a year (if that). But hey, that's the American way! I know several people that are always complaining about not having enough money and then you go over to their house and they've got the same cable TV package that Lebron probably has at his house. Sound investment. Oops, sorry for ratting you out, Bounce.

Senior, you seem like one of those guys on Hale's OU page or Rivals that begs people that have premium access to post some recruiting nuggets that they are too cheap to pay for.

I ordered cable when I moved and knew I had to have all sports channels. That's what men do. Just drop the Oxygen network package or the Hallmark channel package and you have broken even.

I remember the days of not being able to watch hardly any OU b-ball games on TV...I'm more than happy to pay for it!!!

if you would only watch espnu/nbatv/cbssports/nbcsports/ect... 5 times a year (way more than 5 OU programs alone fyi)

then you are not a sports fan ... and maybe you shouldn't waste your time on sports web sites

Not sure that I understand all the ragging. I pay for the sports and information package, but it's not like I happily do it to estabilish my credibility as a "real sports fan". If not for sports I wouldn't need cable at all.

Cable TV is a racket, but necessary to watch a wide array of sports, and anyone who doesn't get irritated about it isn't a true money fan.

Now, screw this silly thread. It's Bedlam, and lets whip Poke butt and get the hell out of that hellhole.
