Is Hamilton going to be able to give this team 4-5 solid minutes per half off the bench?

Or is Kruger going to have to throw Neal or Cole in there when a second big off the bench is needed?

Hamilton is doing some good things. But, his development is spotty. In the scrimmage Friday he hit a nice jumper from the elbow. There was a couple of times that a rebound was coming down in a crowd that included Spangler and Bennett, Hamilton had himself positioned and timed it well enough that he made really good grabs. Once, Cousins got by his man and was going in for what looked to be an easy layup. Hamilton got rotated over from the weak side fast enough to shove it back in Cousins face.

But, he still has a lot of work to do.

Gary anything else of note from the scrimmage?

Not too much. Woodard and Bennett were out. Any two of the top seven missing kind of throws things off some.

Cam was very good. He went thru a couple of streaks when he was scoring at will. The starters were Hornbeak at the point along with Cousins, Buddy, Cam, and Spangler.

At one point Hornbeak jammed a finger. He had to come out for a few plays to get it taped. Cousins moved to the point and Tyler came in as a guard. That was one of those rotation /substitution moves that I like to watch for.

There was another thing that I kind of got a kick out of. The players filter out to the floor from about 1:20 till about 1:40. They loosen up and shoot till 2:00. On film days Kruger takes them all back up stairs. The walk ons and transfers sitting out a year always stay on the floor and are put thru drills with one of the assistant coaches. Season before last it was always interesting to watch M'Baye work out. It was the same last season with Spangler and Bennett.

Last week for the 1st time a walk on or sit out guy got to go up for team film. Austin Mankin, a walk on from Texas, has been getting a little reward for his hard work and good results. He is a 6'7" tweener with a nice looking shot and good range out to the 3 pt. line. I think that he was the 58th ranked player in Texas coming out of high school. He probably needs to gain 15 lbs and will probably never be a difference maker. But, he has shown up in the 10 man rotation a couple of times and if he got in the game, he wouldn't be the kid that got you beat. He seems to be a good kid and it is pleasing that he is getting some recognition.
