What's Wrong With College Basketball?

thanks for posting that MsProud. I was thinking of just this same thing a few weeks ago--just the nature of college sports and basketball in particular and how it's looking at this time. It's just gotten so dirty. It's kinda depressing.

I just wish they would do something like the baseball/MLB eligibility rule for college basketball.

We shall see how the future unfolds.

That was a great read and telling. Sounds like even the coaches don't like where college basketball is today. What a shame. I find myself watching more and more NBA because at least those guys are somewhat honest with their intentions. You know where the game stands. And that the spirit of competition is still there.

Yep. agreed.

I'd rather go back to the days of no frosh eligibility with no drafting 'til junior year. IMO it would improve things all around.

Yep. People talk about college basketball being pure. Hogwash. It's the most scandalous organized sport out there. That and college football.
Plus the play on the court has gone to the crapper. Team play isn't as emphasized as much as people want you to believe.
I'd much rather watch the Lakers vs Celtics or Thunder vs Spurs than 99% of college games.

Totally agree. Far too many kids who go to college these days have one foot out the door (at least in their mind) before they arrive on campus. College basketball is too much of a business now, and I don't mean the revenue schools generate. It's the extra-curricular stuff, with agents, AAU coaches and handlers getting involved with these kids from the time they're old enough to show promise. It's the college coaches who are willing to do most anything for job security.

Like you, I long for the good ole' days when college hoops was about pride and a love for the game.
