Since all of the discussion about Capel and his future started coming up a few weeks ago, the Gallon/NCAA thing also started getting more press attention. Does anybody really know the status of that "investigation"?

I remember at the time, Carey Murdock and Greg Doyle (among others) were predicting extremely severe penalties, but then the issue sort of "died" once Gallon and Coach Taliafero [sp?] moved on. I also remember saying and hearing at the time that it was a small amount of money that was part of a private lending transaction, but did see that if it could be shown that Taliafero [sp?] was directly involved, we would be in some type of trouble, but not that bad.

It's been more than a year since the TMZ report, and if I am sure of anything it is that OU under Castiglione is extremely cooperative with the NCAA and yet nothing has occurred. That seems strange to me inasmuch as while in an instance like USC, it can take years if a school elects not to cooperate, but if a school does cooperate [see OU or tOSU this past season], things get handled pretty quickly because it saves the NCAA time and resources.

Anyway, just strikes me as odd as this issue is getting so much play now and wondering why. Any answers?
