I dont recall the Big XII being this close for second in a long time. KSU, Texas, ISU and OU all have a good chance to be second in the conference. West Virginia has an long shot at finishing second (they currently have 6 losses). WVU still has to travel to ISU and OU plus play KU at home.

Will WVU make the Tournament? They are 15-11. I think they are going to be a bubble team. It will be interesting to see what happens.

It will be between Iowa state and oklahoma. To me it's really a two team race.

I tend to think those are the two best teams but there is still a lot of basketball left to play. I think WVU definitely has the toughest road but it is not a cake walk for anyone.

In the 90's we had some really tight basketball races but don't remember if we ever had 4-5 teams in contention for 2nd place.

I know this is "ifs and buts," but if we hadn't lost that home game to Tech, and if Tech could have held on and beat Kansas the other day, we would still be in the running for first.

Oh, well…

After Tech's play the last 4-5 games, that home loss to them doesn't look so bad after all. Tubby has them playing well.

Still not a game we should lose at home. Especially if we're truly the 2nd or 3rd best team in the league.

We gotta get back to the Kelvin years to where we simply did not lose games at home, except to teams like KU.

Heh...I remember Kelvin losing some home games. Specifically remember losing to Tech once when Carr hit a last second shot. Also remember losing twice to Texas and a few losses to OSU in there too.

Those osu and ut teams were pretty good though. Tech may not suck, but they aren't going to finish above OU in the standings, even after beating us in Norman. I know we can't win them all, but we've already lost three home games this year, two to teams we are clearly better than. To take that next step, we have to quit losing games like that.

I agree. OU cannot lose home games to teams like Tech and La Tech. Hopefully that won't happen next year.

I don't disagree with you but the fan support is worse than it ever was under Sampson and it was bad then. In that Tech game, we may have been playing at home but the fans made it seem like a neutral court game. That's not the reason we lost but I can remember more than a few wins under Sampson the fans helped the team get over the hump. I specifically remember one against aTm in 97 that was a definite loss and somehow we won.

It's Tubbs guys. Billy Tubbs never lost at home. The only ones I remember were one to Kruger and Mitch Richmond and another to the deep voiced dookie Bob Hurley... I'm sure there were more, but those two I remember. Billy had a GREAT home record...

Poor home crowds lead to home losses across the nation. It's a simple truth. It shows up in those trap games like Tech - a conference foe that you expect to beat.

This needs to be addressed at OU to help the program take the next step.

It's getting old seeing our crowds not impact the games. You can't just bring it to the big games, EVERY game. It also helps recruiting more than people realize.

Now that Kruger has laid the foundation, there are a few things that need to happen off the court to help get the program to where we all want it to be.

Tubbs' last undefeated home season was the '90 team that beat #1's KU & MU back to back. His last 4 seasons he lost 17 games in Norman.
