Thought I'd compile a list of some of the players that have transferred from OU to see how they were doing. Apologies if I forgot anyone.

Kam McGusty:
13.9 ppg, 44% FG, 34% from 3, 75% FT
4.4 RPG, 1.9 APG, 0.8 SPG, 2.5 TOpg
Miami is currently 14th in the ACC

Jordan Shepard:
14.1 ppg, 46% FG, 26% from 3, 74% FT
2.8 RPG, 4.2 APG, 0.9 SPG, 3.4 TOpg
Charlotte is currently 5th in Conference USA

Ty Lazenby:
3.1 ppg, 33% FG, 40% from 3, 59% FT
1.4 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.3 SPG, 1.0 TOpg
Oral Roberts is currently 4th in the Summit

Matt Freeman:
10.0 PPG, 43% FG, 43% from 3, 88% FT
4.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.4 SPG, 1.3 TOpg
USCB is currently 6th in the Big West

Hannes Polla:
2.5 ppg, 44% FG, 77% FT
1.7 RPG
UT-Martin is currently 9th in the Ohio Valley

Lazenby and Polla should have never been recruited. I could probably argue the same for Freeman, but at least he had a little bit of upside.

No argument, but every head coach we ever had had such players. Oleg Retszov may have been the worst scholarship player we ever had, but I remember him getting some PT on Senior Day and the crowd went nuts when he shot the ball hoping it would go in (it didn’t). Kelvin sent him in because we were winning comfortably and the crowd was yelling “We want Oleg! We want Oleg!”

I was at the OU - Ole Miss game last March and we all went crazy when Polla scored in garbage time. These things at least make for some fun memories...and we’ll have many more because the next head coach and the one after that will have multiple players who have no business getting scholarships.
