While I prefer coach Lon's style

My only complaint is not fouling at the end of regulation when OSU hit the 3-pointer.

I like to foul because three or four things have to happen to tie the game up whereas only one has to happen when they shoot the 3-pointer.

But that's LK's philosophy and he's consistent.

OSU played well today, give them credit.

I think he tried to foul. Odomes ended up out of the play because he tried to steal the inbounds pass and missed and the it looked like Trae tried to foul too late and whiffed.

I can see that about Trae but it was such a poor effort that I wasn't sure if he was trying or not.

Maybe now the jock-sniffing from this board, where OU is the best team in the Big 12, can end. If OU doesn't turn it around quick, they will fall hard out of the top 25

They won’t fall out of the top 25.

Exactly. It was half-hearted as if he was unsure what to do.

This team is consistently slow to help on defense.

I took it that Trae tried to deflect the ball not foul. No way he should whiff if he is trying to foul. Reach for the ball hit the body.

No. They played "tough", but I never thought they played dirty.

Correct, it was never dirty, but they were physical and tough. Reminds me of the way WV plays defense and as physical as the bedlam game was Saturday, Kelvin's style would work again in the big 12. For a time the refs clamped down on the physical play but now it's physical again.

Kelvin vs Lon...pick your poison. If you want offense and some defense choose Lon, if you want defense and some offense pick Kelvin. Personally I like both and appreciate both styles. I get as frustrated with our defense now as I used to get with our offense under Kelvin. How many games did we play with long scoring droughts? Just way more than we should have it seemed. Now it's long droughts of little to no defense.

Coaches have their personalities for sure.

Which is worse--Can't get a stop or can't score a basket?

Love me some Kelvin but gimme Lon. Lon can take us to the next level imo.

I am not sure that the level of talent necessary to win the NCAA tournament with Lon's style is achievable at OU. I still prefer it overall, but I don't know if a defensive-oriented posture isn't the most likely to get us to that final goal. This obviously belies what Billy did in '88 ... but basketball's not the same as it was in '88.

I thought the same at first but our recruiting has been progressing nicely. We are becoming a name brand across the country now.

Comments like this boggle my mind. We were in the damn final four 2 years ago. Meaning Lon has already assembled the talent necessary to win a championship.

well ... mind-boggling though it may be it was the same argument levied against the weeper. His style resulted in a lot of success, but also a lot of underachieving until he went from Kansas to UNC and some say he still underachieves there.

We’ve been to the final four three times with three different coaches/styles since 1988 and a regional final in 2009 with another. All those teams had talented players and 3 of the 4 lost to the eventual national champion.

It's really difficult to score in the NCAA tournament. Winners have to be able to put the ball in the basket. Those defense-only teams tend to flame out early because they can't get a basket with the game on the line. You definitely have to have some of both -- this team has no shot if they don't pick it up on the defensive end -- but to say Lon can't win a championship because he emphasizes offense...well, name a championship team ever that couldn't get baskets when it needed to.

And all of them could score.

The nonsense I'm reading on this board this week is just unbelievable. Roy Williams has won 3 titles! He made it to 3 final fours and 2 NCAA championship games at Kansas. Anyone who thinks that is underachieving is beyond help.
