Who Were the Officials in this Game?

Wow! That's what happens when gutless officials allow things to get out of hand. An ejection after the second intentional flagrant foul might have changed the way that game was played. I'm still shaking my head in disbelief that the officials didn't even signal an intentional on any of those fouls. :facepalm

It should be noted that the team committing the fouls wore the home court white uniforms. I'll bet that had something to do with the way the game was called. But for the life of me I don't understand how any member of that crew could have possibly earned the striped shirts they wore! It would be interesting to know if the state association moved to strip them of that priviledge?

I'm honestly surprised a parent didn't come out of the stands to 'discuss' the situation with the officials. The officials and the coach of the team in the white jerseys should all be disciplined. What kind of coach allows their players to play like that?

The only answer I can think of is one that wanted to win, and the method didn't matter to him. Any coach worth his salt would have pulled the two football players turned thug out of the game and left them on the bench. That should tell us all we need to know about the kind of person he is (I refuse to call him a coach or a man).

The parents of the victims in this game were likely outnumbered and intimidated by the home crowd. I can tell you for sure that would not have stopped me! Then, again, I have been known to do some dumb things in my time on this earth. ;)

Those are just good, hard playoff fouls. (kidding)

The only thing as bad as those fouls was the clown of a parent who felt it was their job to post a video on the internet so it went viral. Just give it to the coach/AD and have them take it to the state association so they can handle the matter internally (suspensions or whatnot). No reason to put this in the open to embarrass players/coaches/team/school, etc.

They only showed number 42 once, and I didn't think his foul was flagrant or intentional.
Just looked like a regular foul.

Are you kidding? Screw those kids, coaches, school and refs for allowing that game and those fouls to happen. They should all be punished, fired and embarrassed for that violence, it has no place in the game. If that would have been my son or my friends I would have stepped on the court ready to throw down over those cheapshots. Once you decide to start throwing cheapshots you better be ready to fight I don't care if you're 15 or 70. That coach should be fired, refs fired.

The refs and the coach of the bullying team didn't handle their business, I have no problem with the parent putting the video on the internet. Those fouls speak for themselves, video doesn't lie. There should be consequences when you act like that.

Haha, you would run onto the floor if your friend got a cheap shot in a high school game? Please tell me that's a joke. Would you blind side him or square up to give him a fair shot? Come on.

If the editor of the video was serious about stopping the behavior, he/she would have taken the video to the proper authorities, not post it on the internet hoping someone else would do it for him/her. Not disagreeing that punishments should be handed down to the guilty parties (players, coaches, officials) but I am also disappointed in the other coach for not pulling his players off the floor...that's inexcusable.

Campbest, it's not often I disagree with you, but this is one of those rare times. What we don't know, of course, is if this parent took their "evidence" to the school's administrators and/or the association and were turned away or told that it was no big deal? Either way, it was all too obvious that the officials were doing absolutely nothing to put a stop to a series of intentional fouls that have no place in basketball at any level. If it had been allowed to continue, some unsuspecting kid could eventually be blindsided and hurt.

IMO, the officials and the coach of the team in white were to blame. The players who continued to take the cheap shots were simply doing what they were allowed to get away with, and frankly, what they were likely told to do. I see no other explanation for what were obvious attempts to gain an advantage in any manner they could.

Was there a better way to handle it? My guess is, yes. But if we can assume for the moment that the parent(s) who posted the video had already been rebuffed in their attempt, it's easy to see why they took the next step in posting the video.

Agree, if the proper effort was made and there wasn't any action...then yes, by all means. However, judging by how most state associations treat similar matters (Texas is VERY tough) this is something that would be dealt with the appropriate care and attention. Also, highly doubt any coach or AD would say this is "no bid deal".

Could be wrong though, hope I am not.

I doubt that, too. It's a term I used to suggest that this parent could have come away from their meeting with school officials (assuming there was one), believing their attempt to influence change had fallen on deaf ears. I'd say it's more likely that this person was so upset, he/she wanted to make sure the officials were punished, and this was their way to call attention to it. It's interesting and fun to discuss incidents like this. But the truth is, we have no way of knowing what really took place behind the scenes.

Time to cheer for our Sooners! :dance005:

I disagree, and you can laugh at the way I think but I feel I'm gonna protect myself and those close to me. I'd square up with the kid, not that he deserves a fair shot, he sure didn't give those other kids a fair shot by swinging and hitting their heads while they are shooting lay ups in defenseless positions. Eff the guy. Like I said, I feel if you are throwing around cheapshots with intent to hurt then you better be prepared to face somebody coming at you, and you don't deserve a "fair shot" if you aren't giving others the same fairness.

Say what you want about whoever posted this video, but I'm darn sure that this is gonna be handled by people in authority now. Those kids' lives aren't ruined, they aren't gonna be denied jobs or college because of this, they along with their coach and refs just have been exposed for what they are. Tape doesn't lie, and that tape shows their actions. If your actions are shameful you should be shamed.

i don't think anything good can come of releasing the video to the public. We need to remember this was just a 16 or 17 year old.

foul number 2 and 6 were nothing but fouls but everything else i would have called a flagrant and thrown out after subsequent ones

When I watched I thought 1 and 2 werent too bad, but the others were really bad

I would tend to agree about 6 but for the fact that the fat guys other 3 fouls on that tape were excessive and he appears to foul as hard as possible everytime he fouls.

I agree foul 2 was not that big of a deal. The only reason I would call anything more than a regular foul in that situation was if I was concerned I was losing control of the game. In that situation, I might have given more than a simple over the back.

Personally, I saw four pretty serious intentional fouls on that tape. 42's second foul where he pushes the kid was pretty bad and totally
