Win At KU

As was the case many times last year, we hung with KU (down 1 at the half) and then let them get up on us early in the Second half. Last year we didn't have the depth or the talent to play with teams like KU... However, this year, we have the depth at least. I know this is a different year, but with them coming off a big win @KSU, they are primed for an upset. This could be the year.

I am calling for the upset, and think we can get it done in Lawrence. BTW if we win in Lawrence then we probably wont win the rematch, but at that point I won't care. I would gladly sacrifice a home loss to a team like KU for a road victory over them.

Let's get it done boys!

Yeah I do too, but a win @KU could propel us to some more wins in this 5 game span. Plus a road win like that would look great on our tourney resume, and a loss at home to them won't hurt us...

OU hasn't won in Lawrence in 20 yrs. With the home court refs, there's no way this team can win that game. No way. They have probably the biggest home court reffing advantage in the country and its horribly obvious.

We were in control the entire game up by 7-10 most of the game until down the stretch. The last few minutes KU was allowed a number of hacks and over the back fouls that weren't called and they won in the last minute of the game.

It was as bad of an officiated game in Big 12 basketball as I can remember.

OU was actually up 16 in the 2nd half, as a minor tidbit.

Bingo, refing in Lawrence is why Kansas loses early in the NCAA tournament every year. They are not use to evenly calling games. Refs will be brutal.

1. Pack it in and give Withey and Young 12 footers.

2. Get Withey in foul trouble (tough to do). He's not good offensively but he changes the game with his ability to defend.

3. Osby stays out of foul trouble, and has a big game.

The conference was a lot different when people made those statements. OU, OSU and UT were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best teams in the conference for several years in a row with little distinction between No. 2 and KU. I think it was a legitimate comment for several years.

With that said, KU can only play the teams on its schedule and they were winning the games they played. Furthermore, they have continued to win even though the South is not as strong as it was.

Not that I'm expecting it, but a win against KU (in either game) would be huge for our program and this team. Would give us an "edge" come selection time if we're on the bubble. And it's always nice to beat KU.

I think KU's D is a lot better than their O. Or so it seems. So long as we don't turn the ball over a bunch and give them easy hoops (Grooms may play a lot to help with this), I think we can keep their scoring under control. I worry about our ability to put up points though. Hopefully one of the guards (Pledger?) can get hot from beyond the arc, and help us out today.

I agree. Pledger may be a key if we have a chance to pull the upset. I am interested to see how the freshmen handle the crowd. I think it could show us a glimpse of the future of these guys. Lets see if they embrace the challenge or play scared. They do not seem like the type to be scared to me. I hope I am right.

I don't think they'll play scared, but I do worry that KU's pressure, and the length of their guards, will bother ours. At least for a while. That is why I suggest Grooms may get more PT than usual, but even then, that REALLY puts pressure on the other two guards to score.

Definitely a game we need to make ugly to have a shot at winning.

Pledger and Osby are know commodities. Self is a good enough coach and he has good enough players-defenders that it is unlikely that he would give OU a chance to beat him with either one of those two.

If OU were to have a chance to win I would guess that they would have big production/games from an unlikely source or two. Hield, M'Baye, and Clark are the most likely candidates.
