What a hot shooting night. He started taking heat checks and they were going in. I can't remember another time someone hit six 3s in a row like that for OU.

:OU-logo:

Read a title of an article that said that.. he literally hit 6 3's in 6 straight possessions? If so, why didn't he try the 7th? Ha

That was one of the cooler things I've ever seen in person. The bench was going absolutely nuts starting on about the third one or so.

He did try for a 7th. But on the step back the entire building new he was shooting as well as the guy guarding him. And he had the ball stolen as he was going into the shot

It was ridiculous. Shots 3, 4, 5, and 6 were all objectively bad shots. The first two he was wide open, and then it was just 4 straight heat checks that were no doubters. It was awesome.

The funny thing is he kept a straight face during the first 5 made, but was all smiles, at least for him, when the sixth was good.

The move to shooting guard might have been a decent move.

Can you believe this is the same guy who started out so poorly last year ? Amazing.

So it was six straight possessions? Or he made six threes in a row during a stretch of the game?

Pretty awesome when the heat checks started going in.

Maybe not the best comparison but He reminded me of TMG against ISU when he dropped 38...and what I mean by that is how he hit his last 4, 5, & 6 three point shots. His crossover and setup before the shot. Just a small comparison. If he can keep his 3 point shot somewhere around 37-39% it would be pretty awesome. His ability to create his own shot is great but stretching his range out to the 3 point line makes him lethal. He's the kinda guy that can make buddy and cousins even better if he becomes a good shooter. So far so good.

Amazingly, Jordan Woodard had the 4th best 3-point shooting percentage in the game last night.

3-Point Shooting vs. Central Arkansas
3-3 (1.000) ... Isaiah Cousins
1-1 (1.000) ... Christian James
1-1 (1.000) ... Dante Buford
6-7 (0.857) ... Jordan Woodard
2-5 (0.400) ... Buddy Hield
0-5 (0.000) ... Others

Woodard's performance last night was a clear sign that Coach Kruger knew what he was doing when he moved him to the two and put Cousins at the one.

I had my doubts, and said as much more than once. But, to this point of the season, the so-called "experiment" seems to be working just fine. LK knew what most of us didn't, that Jordan had improved his shooting from the perimeter in the off season. He is now at 38% from three this season

Interestingly, through the first four games, Jordan has more assists (17) than Isaiah (13). Through that same period last season, Jordan had five more assists than he does now. But he also had four times as many turnovers, 12 compared to only 3 this season.

I'm sure in part the reduction in turnovers is due to his maturity as a player. But, I also think moving him to the two relieved him of the pressure of running our offense. Thus, freeing him up to create his own shot or drive and dish without having to worry about starting the next play.

I don't believe that just bc Woodard is shooting so well from 3 it owes itself to him playing the 2 at all. Maybe it gets him more looks. But still cousins is probably and will likely always be the better 3 point shooter so that would cut against switching the players. While woodard still has superior ballhandling, instincts, passing, and experience at the 1 than cousins.

I'm still not a fan of it. But i am a fan of woodard killing it from 3. Very pleased with his progress shooting from deep

That was before the game. He's now 11/20 or 55%

You're right. I should have realized last night's game was not included in the stats. That make the improvement in Jordan's shooting from deep even more impressive. He was a 25% shooter from three last season.

I don't disagree that there may be trade offs in having a proven three point shooter like Isaiah focus more of his attention on running our offense. But at 10 of 22 (45%) through last night's game, he is still an efficient shooter from behind the arc. There is also the advantage of putting the ball in his hands more often.

I'm still not TOTALLY convinced that the switch was the right thing to do over the long haul. Time will tell, I suppose. But, I like what I have seen so far. What's not to like about a 9 of 10 shooting performance from three by our two point guards?

I believe there was a possession between the first and second, but from 2-6, nobody took a shot but Jordan.
