Here is the roster broken down by positions. I know there is some debate about where M'Baye will play, but I really think he'll get nearly all his minutes at the 4/5 positions. There is a chance, however, that if Cam doesn't play well again, and the freshmen aren't ready to start, that M'Baye could see time at the 3. That is probably only likely if Bennett is at least a little better than Washington was. IMO, of course. There is talk of Cole redshirting, but I will include him as playing next year until we hear he is redshirting for sure. I will also not list Spangler below, as he isn't eligible to play this season.

Guards (1-3)
Sam Grooms - 6'1, 200
Steven Pledger - 6'4, 212

Jelon Hornbeak - 6'4, 185
Isaiah Cousins - 6'4, 188
Buddy Hield - 6'4, 190

Thanks for putting this together, what jumps out at me immediately is that we have a lot more height on the roster than we did last year with eight players listed at 6'6" or taller. Not that it is the be all end all, but it is of some value.

Does Arent redshirt, or does he compete with Bennett for the 10 or so frontcourt minutes that will be available per game?

Hopefully he doesn't red-shirt, we need the scholly in 2013

Yes, definitely redshirt Aren't. We need talent like that taking up schollies as long as possible.

there will be points in almost every game next year that fitz/osby/m'baye are on the court at the same time

I think Kruger has done a really good job of fixing the problem with two many guys in a single class. If he signs 2-3 jucos or other transfers next season with 2-3 freshman, his classes will be reasonably balanced and things should be fine. He was put in a tough situation with so many guys in a single class.

with Cj getting a ship next year. We only will have 4 avaiable? Clark, woodard, ???, ???

Yes, but I see it looking like it did when we would have blake, taylor, longar or blake taylor, patillo. M'Baye will play a similar position to Talyor IMO.

Forgot about Henry, Im doubting he makes it, heard he is a little bit a trouble...

Everybody thought Taylor was going to get minutes as a 3 as well. It never happened. I don't think he played a single minute as the 3.

That said, M'Baye has a better chance to get a few minutes out there, if the team needs it. I'd rather seem him split most of the inside minutes with Osby and Fitz, and leave minutes at the 3 to Cam, Neal, and Hield. I think a lot of where M'Baye plays next year will have to do with how other guys play. If Bennett ends up being much better than I expect him to be, and/or Cam and the frosh guards struggle some, he is more likely to see minutes at the 3. If Cam plays like freshman Cam, and one or two of the new guards proves worthy of minutes, M'Baye may see very little time at the 3.

Lol, I agree he's terrible, but we may actually have a use for him in '13-'14, vs. virtually none in the upcoming season. But yeah, we should probably just bring someone new in.

I just cann't pass on this opportunity to compliment you on your insiteful thoughts reguarding M'baye.

M'Baye isn't going to play SF because it would be stupid to have a 6'9" dude that can rebound playing that far from the rim on defense unless we are running some type of zone. As far as on offense, Kevin Durant, LeBron James...sure, why not play SF or even SG if you are the best on the planet at what you do. But I want to personally see that this is a guy with a crossover and shoots about 35-40% from three point range consistently*

*Caveat: If he can do these things better than Cam Clark at this point, dude needs to go for it.

I would rather Cam play like he did the last 7-8 games of last season with improved handles and an uptick in his shooting. But, the kid had to average around 7 rebounds/game in those final games and arguably played the best wing defense.

Ha! (and thanks!)

There could be a "sleeper" on the roster. I saw C.J. Cole play in the State Tournament quarterfinals. He looks to be a better athlete and a better basketball player than some are assuming. It is difficult to assess a small school big man given the small school competition, but don't be surprised if this C.J. blossoms into a very productive Big-12 player before his career is over.

I am sure looking forward to seeing if the three freshmen guards listed above can play. Someone has to be the backup PG.

So four scholarships available for 2013.

We don't know about Henry. We're recruiting Stevie Clark, Jordan Woodard, and Marcus Foster pretty hard. Don't think we'd take both Clark and Foster, and the uptick in our recruitment of Foster may indicate how the staff feels about our chances with Clark.

Not sure who we're targeting for the 1 or 2 post 'ships we'll have to offer.

I definitely do know where M'Baye is going to play this year and the development of other players at the 4 and the 3 will be a big determinant of where he will play.

What I do know is that I attended a dozen or so practices last season and in scrimmages M'Baye played the 3 75%+ of the time. It seems to me that Kruger would know have spent an entire redshirt season having M'Baye develop a perimeter game unless he expected to utilize him there. There is not question Fitz, Osby and M'Baye will be on the court together a bunch.

Also M'Baye is definitely more than an inch taller than either Osby or Fitz. Of course, Fitz and Osby could be closer tom 6'71/2" and not 6'8" as listed.
