2017 PG Trevon Duval

I watched Duval dominate Trae. He's just physically better. I think Trae is a better fit for OU though. Duval is a money kid we will never get. He is under armour so I bet Maryland will be a player.

Might be a dumb question, but how does he have a sponsor (Under Armoir)? I'm guessing his AAU team is sponsored by UA and he gets stuff from them? I know kids get a bunch of freebies from the shoe companies, but I don't see how that's ok with the NCAA.

Kind of a saga. Under Armour and Nike recruit kids just like schools. He was moved from Delaware to Texas to be Under armour player for this region along with Billy Preston. Preston flipped to Nike. Under Armour is fighting to keep Duval.

API is an Under Armour sponsored prep school.

Agreed, if we had the luxury of picking 1 of them I would choose Duval every time.

Duval is a long shot. Ou just throwing their name in the hat.

I'm not insulted, I just think you (and many other posters) drastically overestimate the appeal of Oklahoma's weather. You'll not find that many people who find 100+ degree temps desirable, and people in the parts of the country where they don't often occur are downright freaked out by the idea of tornadoes.

I occasionally muse about moving back to OKC, and believe me, the weather (not tornadoes, but the heat) is one big reason I've never done so.

Sky, I don't find 100 plus degree temperatures desirable either. But a typical summer here has surprisingly few days that reach temps in the high 90s to a 100 or more. There are also ways to beat the heat.

Bitter cold winter days with ice, snow or both are far less desirable for me. I grew up in a state with plenty of snow and ice, and lived in another that was even worse for several years. I'll take the warmer and sometimes downright hot climate of a state like Oklahoma every time.

I realize there are people like you who prefer to live in a place where winters are long and sometimes brutal. Despite getting involved in winter sports like snowmobiling, snow skiing, ice skating and indoor activities one has to do to avoid going absolutely insane, I tried it once and didn't like it. If I never see another flake of snow, I'll be happy. I can't wrap my head around the notion that anyone likes ice, except on a skating rink. I can take any amount of heat, but I hate it when it's too cold for me to enjoy the outdoor activities I cherish so much.

How do Nike and UA recruit kids without it interfering with their amateur status? It seems like that would be extra benefits or payment. I remember the Colorado WR years ago not being able to receive sponsorship from an Olympic skiing sponsor or risk being ineligible for college football. Maybe that's totally different.

that was so unfair to that kid. Just another example of the NCAA screwing kids.

The last two summers we have had less than 10 100 degree days combined. I'll take Oklahom's weather any day of the week over NYC. Besides that concrete jungle can heat up pretty bad itself.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of liking Oklahoma's weather, not at all. But one frequently sees posts here and on other boards that presume anyone from the northern half of the United States would love Oklahoma's climate, and that's simply not the case.

And yeah, NYC's summers can be brutal. They're much cooler, temp-wise, but the humidity is rough and the concrete does impact the comfort level. And don't get me started on the subway platforms.

All that said, there's not much difference between 99 and 101 so the fact that there haven't been many days over 100 in OKC the last two summers doesn't really alter my point.

So true, weather here is way over rated. I spent a year in Denver, much nicer winter, many more nice outdoor days than here.

He was a professional skier. I don't disagree that it was crap, but he was a professional. It's like Cody Thomas trying to be a professional baseball player while also playing for OU's football team.

You can do that. That is why it was so unfair. Weinke, the FSU QB in 2000, played professional baseball before going to college. So did Wheaton at OSU.

What they did to that kid was say he could not take endorsement money. Skiers get paid by sponsors. Northface might give them money. The NCAA was worried that it would open up a loophole but they could have a silly made a rule to let that kid get the money he needed to train for the Olympics. There was no doubt he was a top skier. It was not some scam to circumvent the rules.
