2019 Recruiting

This is obviously shaping up as an important week, one way or the other. But from everything I have read and heard from the people who actually cover recruiting for a living, I don't know how anyone (ok, anyone who is reasonable) could question whether Lon and his staff busted their butts and done everything possible to land several high profile kids. At this point, the coaches (from all schools) have done all they can and it is up to the kids to make their decisions. Let's hope that three or four of our primary targets make us happy!
 
What a wild ride this recruiting cycle has been. Crystal ball has Jahmius Ramsey at 86% to Tech. Maybe one of the highest ranked kids (#33 national) Tech has ever signed if they can close.

I hope it goes OU's way but I wouldn't be shocked if Victor joins McCullar at Tech tomorrow. Surely the lure of beautiful Lubbock and whatever the Raiders put in Victor's drink dissipates by tomorrow. If Victor goes to Tech combined with OU parting with Jalen Graham it get's interesting for the tall guy options.

Emmanuel Tshimanga - Bella Vista Prep - 6'10" 275 (PrepHoops report from April list him at 6'8") Think he has a talented 2020 brother named Nate Tshimanga 6'8" wing but could be wrong about that.
Rick Issanza - Bella Villa prep - 7'1" (Tech, Baylor, TCU recent offers)
Malik Hall - Mich. St. Purdue most likely but still scheduled to visit this week?
Juco-Corbin Merritt (Daytona State) JucoRecruiting tweeted around noon today that he's visiting this weekend.
Juco-Javon Franklin (LRParkview, Holmes Community College) Read Memphis and Arkansas are recruiting him.

If OU can get a couple from above combined with a couple below it will be a really salty class.

Tyson Etienne- NY
Jalen Hill - NV
Terry Armstrong- Bella Vista AZ
Wilfried Likayi - Casper College WY

Anyone have any word on how Tyson Etienne visit went? Here's a Rivals blurb I copied from July on Tyson.

Alongside top ranked guard Cole Anthony (#3 ranked national player), Tyson Etienne has oftentimes been overshadowed by the brilliance of the five-star prospect. For one night, it was Etienne making the noise for his PSA Cardinals bunch as he hit three timely 3s down the stretch to push his team over the top for the W, a spurt that might bring a few more schools into his recruitment.

Tough, competitive, capable of playing either guard position and, most of all, someone that can really make shots, Etienne has not struggled finding worthy college suitors. Following his night session, Etienne told Rivals.com that Maryland, Seton Hall, VCU, Cincinnati, Wichita State, Auburn, and Marquette are just a few of the schools that have kept in close contact with him of late.
 
After I set myself up for the disappointment of Tech signing Victor, Harmon comes along to set me straight. Bringer of good news and timely passes.

One of the many lessons @LonKruger has taught me along with most of the other fine coaches I’ve been fortunate to work with the last 18 years is, when recruiting for your program just focus on what you have to offer not what others don’t!! Too much negativity out there! ⭕️U

I wonder if his comment is directed at Tech or someone specifically??

Maybe beard and crew and trying to say crap like LK will retire soon or whatever...just to get him. I think Beard is a good coach, but I can see him doing crap like that!

Here's to hoping both Victor and Hill join Harmon and form a really special class!!

Wondering myself who the shot was at...

I think we’ll add both. But maybe victor told them something beard or whomever and he responded publicly

yeah, it sounds like one of those reactions that only makes sense after you know the news that sparked it. too bad I couldnt see his face to tell if he was saying it happy or sad.

I'm gonna guess happy and Victor is coming to OU despite whatever negative Taco tech spread recruiting.
 
Duke has now offered Boogie Ellis. Kid is absolutely blowing up, kind of like Jaden McDaniels did.

McDaniels got a CB from Jerry Meyer (who knows his stuff) to Texas. Not sure why snake oil sales is a requirement for a coaching job there.
