2022 offers/targets

My point was that Lon and his staff focused too much time in recruiting players who were not good enough to play at OU in the first place, not that they should have recruited more stars.

I had a lot to say about our recruiting in the post FF era. For every high D1 recruit the staff signed during those years, there was at least one that didn’t belong on an OU roster.

100% correct

I think the problem with Lon was similar to Capel in that they both chased plenty of stars, failed to get them, and instead of ending up with Option B's, ended up with Options C or even D.

There were a lot of things I wished Lon did differently, but I don't think going after more elite players was one of them.
I think one of the problems with Lon was he knew where all the good golf course were, like Bob Stoops in he later years

interesting...I'd put OU way above those 2 as far as a bball school

Yep. But, the thing you can't do is automatically assume OU got beat out. OU offered the guy but not all offers are created equal. We're going to learn how Moser does things but he may have offered and later found other guys they like better or feel better about. When that happens, a coach usually doesn't "yank" an offer away from a guy, they'll slow play or stop communicating but the offer still shows as there. Of course, Moser and staff could have wanted him really bad. Who knows?

oh I agree...and who knows how long we recruited him, if he had family ties, coach ties...or anything else. Did we even get a visit? (wasn't following that close).

I agree a TON of reasons why he didn't choose OU..no biggie. Just didn't know if the mentioned it.

He broke down some of the schools he has visited for Texasboysbasketball.com

He said. “I have a Georgia official visit set for September 11.”

TCU: “Had a great coaching staff that I connected with also with there being guys there I knew it was easy to fit in.”

Arkansas: “Had the great coaches too they have 60 years of NBA experience on staff, and that showed.”

Oklahoma: “Was also good somewhere close to home and had a great facility because of Blake griffins donations.”

Nothing major but visits are a great start

Walsh would be a great get. He’s ranked #12 in ESPN’s Top 100—#21 in the Top 25 regardless of class.

Moser and his staff are not shying away from recruiting some of the best players available with an interest in OU. Time will tell if they will be successful. But, I’m impressed as well as encouraged by their hard work and determined effort.

Porter said it somewhere but the guy loves offering and recruiting state champions.

I think it was the interview with Gabe and Teddy. He talked about his Loyola squad having several HS champions.

It's definitely not a bad thing to recruit/find kids who want/know how to win.
