2024 NCAA Tourney Bracketology

I came across this recently from Bart Torvik's website (great analytics website). It's a resume comparison for this year's OU team and it identifies other teams in recent years by the similarity of wins, NET ranking, resume, etc. It also shows where those teams with a similar resume were seeded and how they did in the NCAA tournament:

good find thank you for sharing it ..

OU still a 5 seed in todays ESPN update ... 9 big 12 teams in and KSU and Cinn among the first 4 out ..

Was just reading an article posted this morning on The Athletic. They profiled a handful of teams that, due to one weakness or another, are vulnerable to being upset in March (assuming they make it as a fairly high seed). We were listed due to turnovers. We are 240th in turnover rate, and they noted that in most of our losses, we have taken fewer shots than our opponents due to double digit TOs.

Sadly, we've limited the turnovers in the past two games, to no avail.
This team, and moser, don’t know how to win in this league. If it’s not the turnovers, it’s FTs or rebounding. It’s always something. If only we make FTs but then the turnovers. If only we don’t have turnovers but then FTs. And on and on.

Agree. For all the talk about FTs Saturday, we also gave up over 50 points in the second half, on our home court, in what was close to a must win game coming off a very disappointing loss. That included approximately 6,000 points in the last six minutes. Teams can choke defensively, too, and that has happened to us several times the past three years. Two of Moser's five losses to KU were games that we would have won if we played good, solid defense the last five minutes. We also gagged away a huge lead at home against West Virginia last year because they scored on almost every possession down the stretch, but we were fortunately able to pull that one out.

It has been better, but it seems like we still have a cluster of TOs early in games, then settle in. They need to realize that those first few minutes count on the scoreboard as much as the rest of the game.
I would gladly sign on for 10 or fewer turnovers in every game for the rest of the season. And late-game turnovers are even worse than early-game ones--if I had to choose between those two bad options, give me the early-game turnovers.

The weekly Athletic bubble watch column has us down to a 9 today.

More interesting, they spoke with the committee chair and asked him about the Big 12 teams that played a weak noncon and how that can affect them. He said that if you go that route, it is “critically important” that you do well in your conference games. He went on to say that if you just do ok in your league but don’t pick up many wins against the top of the league, you shouldn’t feel safe just because you piled up a bunch of noncon wins.

I don't know, does 2 top-15 NET wins mean anything?

Probably not a ton if you go 2-6 in top 15 games. But again, feel free to shoot the messenger. And after all, what does the selection committee chair know? Clearly not as much as the folks on this board who only look at the NET and metrics long enough to complain if things don’t work in our favor.

Dude, can you leave. You are insufferable with your hate of the program
