22'-23' - 15–17 (5–13 Big 12)
23'-24' - 18–7 (6–6 Big 12) 5 games remaining

Yah we're clearing trending down. 🤦🏻‍♂️ We're exactly where we were the 5 years following the Final 4 year with our Hall of Fame coach. But hey, let's fire Moser.
Other than the 3 tournaments in Lon’s last three years compared to zero for Rick Majerus’ wannabe

They lost to UCF and a K-State team we beat by 20 on the road. They're a pushover on the road.
Kansas is 2-5 in conference play on the road, they've lost to UCF and WVU. Their only wins are against OK St and now Oklahoma.

They are an average team when they leave Phog right now and it showed in the 1st half today. It was just a piss poor job by the team all around and these 2nd halves where OU gets run out of the building feel like groundhog day. Opportunity after opportunity is squandered under Moser and it's frustrating as hell.

No offense but how can you say “great home crowd” when you can hear the visitors battle cry over the tv the last min. Every time Fran would say that’ll hush the crowd (ku bucket) it actually got louder.
Because KU actually have their team something to cheer for in the second half! Plus, we have to keep things in perspective. I have no disillusions about OU bball fans. When I say “great” it’s great for OU. But the fans are not to blame for the piss poor performance the last three games. The students especially were good today.

Okay Sooner fans....who do you want to take over?

This is what you are offering a new coach.

Crappy facility but good athlete support system (maybe a new arena but years away at best and it will be off campus)
Fickle fan base (only show up for big games)
Little to no NIL but it is getting better we hear
Better tradition than most realize or get credit for (Final Fours, etc.)
Tough conference (SEC not as tough as Big 12 but still good)
Competitive Pay but seemingly a lack of athletic department support

Who do you have?

The last two minutes of the first half shifted the game. A turnover, Los missing a bunny, and Luke getting abused for two buckets. Anyone who has watched either of these coaches knew who was going to win once KU cut it to five despite getting totally outplayed for the first 18 minutes.

It’ll be six top 25 teams as of Monday.
You're right. Kansas is a terrible team and losing to them under any circumstance is unacceptable. Especially when this game was already marked as an L. Fire Moser.

But when we beat osu let's kick off the final four expectations.

His record against KU is far down the list of reasons he should be fired.

Thinking Kansas is a pushover in any scenario is ridiculous.
This board is hilarious when it comes to KU. Every time they lose a game or two, the talk is that they aren’t a vintage Kansas team, lack depth, are beatable, etc. Then when they whip us, people walk it back and say we just don’t have the talent to really compete with them.

My take: they’ll ultimately be just fine. They are getting healthy and adding Furphy to the starting lineup will really pay off in March. But today, with McCullar not close to healthy, and with the way they played the first half, and how bad they have been on the road, this was as good a chance we could have asked for. And yet again, in a big home game with a nice crowd and chance to build some positive momentum, we shrank from the moment.

I'm going to add some context to the "trending down" piece for this season. I'm using Kenpom, our non-con SOS this year was #319 and we went 12-1. Last year, our non-con SOS was #66 and we went 10-3. My point is we have feasted on some awful teams as well as some underachieving teams this year in non-con....and our record is a little hollow if you drill deep.

In conference play, we are fortunate to get OSU twice and WV once (bad teams). Say we somehow get to 8 wins, almost half of our wins in conference will likely come against the two worst teams. And our only likely win against the top half of the conference would be against ISU (if you want to include BYU....so be it, but they aren't looking great right now either). This is sobering to me and NOT a feather in PM's cap.

Are we better than last year....unequivocally yes. Have we made a big improvement.....I would lean towards NO. That is why you have to look beyond the record IMO.

Completely agree on all points. ISU is a really good win. BYU is a nice win but a game you absolutely should win at home. Outside that, we have four wins against teams that are a combined 16-32 in the league. I said a week ago that our record was deceiving based on the schedule. The no-show at UCF and the consecutive home losses in January were games we just couldn’t afford to drop.

I completely agree with this. KU was as beatable as we could have asked for. Yes they have been dreadful on the road and we didn't capitalize on the opportunity. We played well for almost the entire first half, kept the the game even for a good portion of the second half and couldn't close. It is frustrating. But some are acting like we lost to osu. Kansas is still the #6 team in the country, so to call them a pushover or think this was a game where losing wasn't still highly likely is wild. KU...the team who beat the current #2 UCONN, #3 Houston, #4 Marquette, #8 Tennessee, #12 Baylor.

Yup. This year is a spitting image of Lon's half-decade post-Buddy. I'll give it one more year with hope of landing a respectable 5. If we trade the 5-spot with KU, we win by double digits both games. If there's no improvement next year, I'll want the same as I did by the end of Lon's tenure -- a new coach.

The golden age of OU basketball is over, and we've become firmly entrenched in mediocrity. I still have a glimmer of hope, but it's only a glimmer.
