'24 NCAA Tourney Discussion Thread

This game turned real fast. Utah State's offense fell apart.

I said I wasn't going to do this earlier in the thread, but my bets today:
Utah State +6.5 (first half)
Clemson +4.5
Houston -9 (will probably live bet if Houston gets behind early)
Utah St at half for you =ouch. I put some coin down for Baylor to cover.

Utah State's defensive game plan for this game was pretty interesting. Not sure how this guy is getting hype for jobs. Okie State probably downgrades if they get him.

Probably because smart people don’t base decisions on one game against the most dominant player in America and realize he took an entirely new team to the second round of the tournament.

This may be the weakest first weekend of a tournament in a few years anyway. There's been a few good games but lot of one sided games.

I really expected more from JMU but it looks like Duke is gonna blow them out.

Duke is on pace to get close to 100. They said the last time 4 teams got 100 points in the first 2 rounds was in 2009.

I happened to see something with NC State... Mo Diarra, the juco post player from Kansas that OU didn't bother to offer. Look at his ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament:

Louisville: 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks (WIN)
Syracuse: 8 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block (WIN)
Duke: 14 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks (WIN)
Virginia: 9 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block (WIN)
North Carolina: 11 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals (WIN)
Texas Tech: 17 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks (WIN
Oakland: 11 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks (WIN)

Heading into the Sweet 16 on a terror. 11 points, 12 rebounds, 2.3 bocks per game in the post-season.

He was a 4 hour drive from Norman, OK and we didn't offer a 6'10'' 220 forward a scholarship and he's out here tearing up the ACC and NCAA Tournament..... and OU couldn't win 1 more game with the season on the line against a garbage TCU team in the Big 12 tournament.

Just pathetic... pure negligence.

big ain't always right, but he probably was here.

Sickening watching several lesser schools in the Dance year after year with a better big man than we have. Kelvin usually has at least 3 I'd take over OU's best. It was just two this year. You see guys at the smaller schools and the CU/NCST's. I really don't understand it.

Baylor offense is disappearing at the wrong time.

Aren't we already there?

Colorado
Florida
Alabama
Purdue

Baylor hasn't made it out of the round of 32 outside of the year they won the Natty since like 2016.

Same class as Mo Diarra, the other juco guy I was pleading with the staff to offer was Daniss Jenkins. He was at a juco in the Dallas area. No offer from OU or OSU. 3 hours from Norman.

Averaged 15 points, 5.4 assists, 3.5 rebounds for St. Johns this year.

3 hours away, no scholarship offer.

27 and 6 vs Creighton
27 and 5 vs UCONN
19 and 8 vs Utah
22 and 6 vs Marquette
23 and 7 vs Georgetown
16 and 8 vs Providence

Etc.....

I've made the case over and over (and over) again... OU isn't going to get back to its former glory until they realize they need to recruit a specific way. You need the best from Texas and Kansas jucos in addition to the other portal and high school talent OU typically gets.

OU's roster this year could have been:

G - Daniss Jenkins
G - Milos Uzan
G - Otega Oweh
F - Jalon Moore
F - Mo Diarra

That's a 25 win team that's getting a top 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

My guess is that you also mentioned several other guys, not just those two, and that the others didn’t exactly pan out.

Baylor has been down 10 or more most of this game. Really hasn't been that close.
