Aaron Calixte visiting this weekend

Exciting. This team is going to be solid 1-8 or so and will have probably 6 or 7 guys who could legitimately average double digits in scoring next year. It won't have any 30 PPG scorers but it could have a different star every night.

The article thinks top 25ish.... I’ll take it

here's the thing man ... this team next season will be one that any player can make his mark upon.

hopefully a few will recognize that this off-season and become gym rats.

Welcome Aaron! Love this signing!

I think we need to address the Post with the last ship. McNeace is a SR leaving Polla as the only other Big Man going into 2019. I'm not talking about a traditional Center, but someone who can play more physical, rebound, score a little around the basket and weighs at LEAST 220lbs. A Grad Transfer gives depth for this year. A Transfer or H.S. signing would provide some security for the Future. Sure 2019 might be a whale of an incoming class, but there's no guarantee a big signs. I hope Polla becomes an impact player, but potentially only having one option for 2019.

That said..... you don't sign someone just to have a body.

At 5-11, Calixte averaged 16.9 points and 3.2 assists for the Black Bears last season, shooting 47.6 percent from the floor and 38.6 percent from 3.

Calixte visited OU last weekend and was impressed with what he saw. He was one of the most highly sought-after graduate transfers in the country, choosing OU over the likes of Florida State and Missouri.

EDIT: Cody also updated this article to do a position-by-position outlook at the 2018-19 roster

Hearing overtures from DePaul, Missouri and Florida State,

* hearing overtures does not mean he had offers...they were interested.

Again, I'll wait and see...I remember last year all they hype after getting TY..yeah the team "improved" but was far from very good at the end.

Maybe not have a superstar on the team will allow everyone to be equal in their own eyes.

So now, OU will be a tournament team next year?

Yes! Next year’s team will have the point guard they were missing before Calixte’s announcement.

Reynolds will also give us a back up who will be a nice addition to our backcourt. Both players have the ability to score on drives, pull up jumpers and from three point range.

Major props to our coaching staff for a great job!

Bob Przybylo over on SoonerScoop says the Cunningham visit has been cancelled, and that the team is set.

At least one of those schools made an offer.

Where is the excitement in a “wait and see” approach to next season? Live a little, join me in sticking your neck out with bold predictions. Trust me, it doesn’t hurt that much when you’re wrong. I gets lots of practice. ;)

The team went from 20 losses to the tournament. It was dramatically improved.

Fast forward to the day mcgusty got his release. Ou had no PG, no mcgusty, and the future was bleak to say the least. Landing 2 solid guards with 3 years of D1 experience was a flat out coup this late on the game. We may not make the tournament but we won’t be losing 20+ games either which is what we were headed for prior to these grad transfers.

This is how I see it. I think OU will be a bubble team.

I agree...I was just getting the feeling some folks thought this is some huge deal. Good, yes...GREAT...I'll reserve judgement until the season unfolds.

Bubble team going into the B12 tourney would be a little above my expectations but good.

It's a big deal, given our recent departures. I don't think anyone's getting ahead of themselves or proclaiming the grad transfers to be superstars, but I'm eager to see our new additions (including Bienemy and Kuath) in action.

I think many more posters have summarily (and prematurely, in my view) dismissed the players we have coming in than have oversold them. We've been assured by certain experts that they'll all (with the possible exception of Bienemy) suck, basically.

Boo. Go get someone that's a grad transfer with that last scholly. No reason not to. Go get another big

Given that half the 2018-19 roster will be seniors, I would like to see a "regular" inbound D1 transfer to take the last scholarship ... the best player available at any position that would have to sit out and redshirt during the 2018-19 season. That could be a way to add some talented experience to the 2019-20 team.

I concur!

That's another smart idea. We will have way too many schollies next year and need more balance. Now Is the time to get a regular transfer.

Next year as well. Add grad transfers and normal transfers
